HIDEO's Debut at Milan Design Week 2026
HIDEO, a prominent Japanese bathroom design company based in Minato City, Tokyo, is set to make its first appearance at the esteemed Milan Design Week in April 2026. The company will participate in notable events including the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and the Fuori Salone at Superstudio Più. This marks a significant milestone for HIDEO as they bring Japan's rich bath culture to an international platform.
Celebrating Japanese Bath Culture
HIDEO’s vision centers around the idea that bathing transcends mere functionality; it is an experience that harmonizes water, light, and space. At the Salone del Mobile.Milano, HIDEO will present its signature bathtubs, namely the IN-2000-E / Infinity-Bio and the CH-1400-E / Chiave-Bio, in an atmosphere of soft and warm tones that reflect the essence of Japanese bathing culture.
The brand's founder, Hideo Shimizu, has been dedicated to bathtub design for over 44 years and aims to portray bathing not just as a ritual but as a "quiet act" that fosters tranquility in both body and mind. Through HIDEO's displays, attendees will witness a blend of artful design and cultural philosophy that challenges traditional perceptions of bathroom products.
Collaboration with Karbony at Supernova
In addition to its showcase at the Salone, HIDEO will engage in a collaborative exhibition titled "Infinity" with the renowned Italian brand Karbony at Superstudio Più, part of the Fuori Salone events. Karbony is known for its innovative use of carbon fiber, which enables the creation of lightweight and structurally intriguing designs. This collaboration will bring together HIDEO’s IN-2000-E / Infinity-Bio with artworks by the globally acclaimed designer Ross Lovegrove, set against a striking backdrop of black and white.
This interaction aims to highlight the synergies between material, space, and visual representation, offering a unique perspective that transcends conventional bathroom aesthetics. The essence of this exhibition lies in the intersection of diverse materials and the conversation they invoke.
A Dual Experience of Serenity and Sophistication
Through its two distinct venues, HIDEO will illustrate varying expressions of its brand identity. At the Salone del Mobile.Milano, the ambiance will remain gentle and reflective of the traditional Japanese values surrounding bathing. Conversely, the Supernova event will present a stark, refined dialogue with contrasting materials, echoing preparations for the future of design innovation.
HIDEO’s participation in Milan Design Week serves as a platform to articulate its design philosophy and explore the possibilities of form, inviting visitors to engage with the deeper meanings of the bathing ritual within a culturally enriched environment.
