Miami-Dade County's Principal of the Year Celebrated with New Car from Headquarter Toyota

On a vibrant Wednesday at Headquarter Toyota's Hialeah showroom, the atmosphere buzzed with music, brightly colored balloons, and enthusiastic applause. The event was dedicated to honoring Lamar Johnson, the esteemed 2026 Principal of the Year for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and it culminated in a remarkable presentation of a brand-new 2026 Toyota Camry SE and a complimentary three-year lease.

Family, fellow educators, school officials, and community members gathered to celebrate Johnson's inspiring leadership at Liberty City Elementary School during this much-anticipated red-carpet event. The keys to the new car were ceremoniously handed over by Judy L. Farcus Serra, Chief Operating Officer and CFO of Headquarter Toyota, in front of a captivated audience.

Lamar Johnson boasts an impressive 18-year career within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system, serving as a teacher, math instructional coach, and ultimately as an administrator. His tenure as principal at Liberty City Elementary School has led to remarkable achievements, transitioning the school from a “C” rating to an “A” rating for the first time in over a decade. This significant improvement reflects heightened student performance and attendance metrics – truly a testament to his dedicated leadership.

Known for his high-energy approach, Johnson focuses on cultivating a positive school culture and fostering academic success. Notable programs under his initiative include the Lion Bucks Program, which rewards students for their achievements and leadership, thereby cultivating a sense of pride and community within the school.

A proud alumnus of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Johnson was recognized as the 2025 FIU Community Schools Principal of the Year and also earned the 2020 M-DCPS Assistant Principal of the Year award.
