Ending Unsolvable Problems: A Unique Seminar Merging Psychology and Practical Knowledge

In today's complex society, individuals often find their challenges deeply intertwined with work, family, and community, making traditional symptom-based solutions insufficient. Responding to this, Idea Human Support Services, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, is set to launch a ten-day recurring education seminar starting February 25, 2026. This seminar aims to cultivate essential problem-solving skills by combining insights from psychology with practical knowledge.

Background: Why Focus on Problem-Solving Now?

We have entered an unpredictable VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) era. According to a recent quality-of-life survey by the Cabinet Office, interpersonal relationships and future uncertainties are major factors affecting happiness in Japan, particularly among those aged 30 to 50. Stress levels have been rising in this demographic, as highlighted by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare's survey, which indicates a persistent high percentage of workers feeling significant anxiety and stress.

This state of affairs reveals that the root of these issues is not merely a lack of skills. Rather, problems in workplaces, families, and communities are intricately linked. Stress in the workplace can spill over into home life, leading to social isolation, creating a cycle that symptom-focused solutions cannot break. Furthermore, broader challenges like climate change and community disintegration leave individuals without clear strategies for engagement.

Thus, what is required now is not just a technique to sidestep immediate issues but a complete overhaul of our problem-solving mindset. This program is designed to provide a universal framework for tackling problems, enabling participants to regain confidence and take charge of their lives.

Program Overview

This seminar is more than just a how-to training. Guided by a university professor with extensive experience in addressing environmental issues and community challenges, participants will learn to understand the essence of problems through a psychological lens.

Course Name: Problem-Solving Seminar with Specialists
Duration: February 25, 2026 - June 28, 2026, covering ten sessions (including a retreat)

Features:
1. Multi-faceted Approach: Employing psychology to address inner thoughts, family dynamics, workplace issues, and environmental challenges coherently.
2. Practical Curriculum: Focused on actual cases, encouraging participants to develop their critical thinking skills.
3. Enhanced Resilience: Cultivating stable judgment and mental fortitude despite facing adversities.

Methodology: Integrating Theory, Practice, and Dialogue

This program goes beyond traditional learning environments. It is a hands-on experience for ten days, engaging participants with real-world problems while grounded in academic insights.

Participants will go through a transformation in their thinking process based on three central pillars:

1. Psychological Approach to Resilience and Self-Reflection
Emotional biases significantly obstruct problem-solving. This course provides scientific insights into why people repeat certain troubles and misjudgments. Through the ten sessions, participants will train to develop resilience, enabling stable mental states even in challenging situations.

2. Holistic Perspectives: Rocess Between Macro and Micro Thinking
The instructor, a university professor, has a track record of solving problems from corporate consulting to global environmental issues. This course will instill the ability to analyze personal (micro) and societal (macro) problems within a universal framework, revealing new solutions to previously deemed unsolvable situations.

3. Building Bonds Through Intensive Retreats and Community Interaction
The culmination of the program will be a retreat on June 27-28, where participants will engage deeply with each other and the instructor in a distraction-free environment. The emphasis will be on collective discourse through group work centered around real-world scenarios, transitioning knowledge into wisdom. This retreat will foster a supportive network that continues after the course concludes.

To accommodate busy professionals aged 30-50, every lecture will have archive access and make-up sessions available. This commitment guarantees the establishment of profound problem-solving skills that single-session seminars cannot achieve.
