Daiichikosho to Revolutionize Karaoke Experience
Daiichikosho Co., Ltd. is embarking on an innovative journey starting September 1, 2026, by launching a karaoke experiment called "Selection-Free Karaoke" at Toyota Woven City. This initiative aims to create a new environment where people can sing freely and without the typical constraints associated with traditional karaoke setups.
For decades, Daiichikosho has been committed to developing karaoke culture as a tool for connection that transcends generations and social standings. Karaoke is cherished not just for entertainment but also for its proven benefits, including stress reduction and mental stimulation. Recognizing these benefits, Daiichikosho seeks to extend the reach of karaoke beyond mere entertainment and into the realm of overall well-being.
The Experiment: A New Singing Experience
In this groundbreaking experiment, traditional song selection devices such as the Denmoku will be absent. Instead, participants will enjoy a karaoke experience that eliminates the need to search for songs themselves. By evaluating user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), the experiment aims to gather insights on crafting personalized playlists, thereby enhancing the overall singing experience.
Experiment Overview
- - Participants: Individuals aged 20 and older who are either residents or guests of Toyota Woven City and applied during the recruitment period from August to early September 2026.
- - Duration: The experiment will run from September 1 to September 30, 2026.
- - Location: Inside the Kakezan Invention Hub, featuring an e-Palette equipped with Daiichikosho's advanced karaoke technology.
Steps in the Experiment
1. Pre-Experiment Survey
Participants will initially complete a questionnaire covering their age, music preferences, and prior karaoke experiences. This information will be crucial for generating tailored playlists for each individual.
2. Singing Experience
Participants will arrive at the venue at their scheduled time and enter their ID number on a tablet device. The personalized playlist created from their survey responses will be downloaded and streamed via the karaoke system. Participants will sing songs in sequence, having the option to skip any tunes that do not match their preferences.
3. Post-Experiment Survey
After the singing session, participants will provide feedback through a survey regarding their satisfaction and the suitability of the songs played during the experience.
Future Steps
Daiichikosho plans to analyze the data collected during this experiment to establish a more efficient and accurate song recommendation system. Additionally, experiments are expected to evolve into creating group playlists, catering to multiple participants singing together — opening up further avenues for sociability and enjoyment through karaoke.
Ultimately, Daiichikosho aims to foster environments conducive to singing wherever and whenever people choose, thereby promoting both mental and physical health, and contributing to a vibrant, enriching community.
