The 2026 Series on Board: Tokyo is set to take place from May 19 to 21, 2026, at KOCCA CKL TOKYO, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). This event aims to foster collaboration in the global broadcasting and media sectors, particularly between South Korea and Japan.
This B2B program connects South Korean broadcasting and production companies with international buyers, providing a platform for unique pitching sessions, one-on-one business matching, and networking opportunities. The main goal is to expand collaborative efforts in international co-production and intellectual property (IP) business.
This year's event will feature 10 prominent South Korean production companies, known for their high-quality dramas and global OTT hits. Participating companies include KBS Media, AK Entertainment, WHYNOT MEDIA, Barunson C&C, IMAGINUS, EO Content Group, Mr. Romance, KIMJONGHAK PRODUCTION, ASTORY, and BEENCENT.
These companies will promote various forms of global business collaborations, such as joint development, investment attraction, remakes, format sales, and partnerships with OTT platforms.
One of the highlights of this year's event is the newly introduced Spotlight Pitching program, which focuses on the needs of local buyers. Based on pre-event research, this program will feature genre-specific screenings and pitches tailored to local interests, alongside Q&A sessions with the participating production companies.
Additionally, there will be various sessions, including a Pitching Session showcasing key projects from the participating companies, one-on-one business matching based on prior matches with global buyers, and networking events designed for interaction between companies and buyers.
Participants can expect a diverse range of new IPs and development projects across genres, including romantic comedies, crime thrillers, fantasy, teen dramas, Boys' Love (BL), and human dramas. This event presents an opportunity for significant business discussions with major Japanese broadcasters, OTT platforms, production companies, and investors.
The Korea Creative Content Agency noted that this marks the fourth year of the Series on Board: Tokyo, stating, "We have seen tangible collaborative outcomes, including co-productions, drama remakes, and broadcasting agreements between South Korea and Japan through this event."
They also expressed their commitment to further facilitating global co-productions and continuous exchanges between companies in both countries.
Following Tokyo, the 2026 Series on Board will be held in other major cities worldwide, including Bangkok, Toronto, and London throughout the year. Each event will reflect the market characteristics and industry needs of the respective regions, providing a customized global business program.
