Arla Rodriguez: From Volunteering to Building a Million-Dollar Insurance Empire
The Inspiring Success of Arla Rodriguez: A Volunteer's Journey to Entrepreneurship
Arla Rodriguez’s story is a testament to the power of determination and opportunity. Originally hailing from Cuba, she faced numerous obstacles before seizing a chance that would forever change her life. It all began when she volunteered at Estrella Insurance’s Palm Beach County office, following a friend's advice as she sought a foothold in her new home.
Upon moving to Florida, Rodriguez juggled the demands of a rigorous cleaning job during the day while dedicating her afternoons to volunteering at Estrella Insurance’s flagship office in West Palm Beach. This relentless routine lasted for eight months, during which she tirelessly honed her skills and demonstrated her commitment to the organization. In 2001, her hard work culminated in an offer for a part-time position, marking her first significant step into the insurance industry.
By 2003, Rodriguez transitioned to a full-time role in Broward County, leaving her previous job behind. Her tenacity and dedication to her work were recognized, and in 2006, she was promoted to a managerial position in Palm Beach County. Each new phase in her career brought its own challenges, but Rodriguez met them with enthusiasm and resolve.
In 2010, Rodriguez received an offer that would change the trajectory of her career: the opportunity to become a franchisee in Palm Beach County. This pivotal moment brought about a blend of excitement and apprehension. “I didn't say 'yes' right away,” she recalls. “It felt both exciting and scary,” reflecting on the weight of the decision before her. After careful contemplation, she accepted the offer, and this decision marked the true beginning of her entrepreneurial journey. With the support of Estrella’s leadership team, particularly CEO Nicolas Estrella, Jr., and Vice President of Operations Richard Estrella, she was able to navigate the complexities of franchise ownership effectively.
Rodriguez attributes her growth and success to the unwavering guidance of those around her, including her supervisor, Jose “Stevie” Sanchez, and the Director of Training, Ana Laura Morales. Their mentorship proved crucial as she expanded her portfolio and business acumen. Moreover, her family played an indispensable role in her success. Her husband and daughter have been actively involved in the business, shaping crucial decisions and celebrating milestones together. Rodriguez's daughter specifically grew alongside the company, gaining invaluable experience as they expanded from a single location to multiple offices.
Today, Arla Rodriguez proudly owns 12 Estrella Insurance locations throughout Palm Beach County, an area that reflects her journey from a volunteer to a community leader and successful business owner. Her establishment has transformed into a million-dollar enterprise, with a strong emphasis on community connection and a supportive team culture.
Family remains central to Rodriguez’s business philosophy. She and her husband frequently visit their offices to bolster morale and maintain a familial atmosphere within their teams. “My husband and I love being in our offices and supporting our teams,” she expresses. “They truly feel like family. We've experienced ups and downs together and we’re always there for one another and our clients.”
As Rodriguez approaches 25 years with Estrella Insurance, her enthusiasm for growth remains undiminished. Recently, she celebrated the opening of a new location in Jupiter, Florida, and she continues to embrace new opportunities with open arms. “I'm excited for what's ahead,” she states, filled with optimism as she embarks on the next phase of her business journey.
