Celebrating a Decade of South-South Learning at PKU's ISSCAD Institute
A Celebration of Learning: The ISSCAD Institute's Ten-Year Journey
On April 29, 2026, the International Institute for South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) at Peking University celebrated a significant milestone: its tenth anniversary. This important event brought together students, alumni, and distinguished guests to reflect on a decade of impactful learning and development. One notable attendee was Ismail Zabeeh, who re-entered academia after holding a prominent ministerial role in the Maldives. His drive to understand development through the lens of countries that have similarly experienced rapid growth exemplifies the spirit cultivated at ISSCAD.
Zabeeh's journey is not unique, as many alumni from various nations have utilized the resources and knowledge acquired from the ISSCAD programs to influence policy in their home countries. Eric Dodoo-Amoo, the Director of the China Department at Ghana's Ministry of Finance and a 2022 graduate, also participated in the anniversary events. Together, the graduates engaged in discussions around sustainable development, further demonstrating the institute's mission of elevating South-South learning.
