ATJC Releases Advanced Training Program for IT Engineers to Enhance Skills and Immediate Competency

ATJC Unveils Advanced Training Program for IT Professionals

In a significant move aimed at bolstering the skills of its IT engineers, ATJC, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has launched a proprietary training initiative known as the Post-Participation Training Program. This innovative program has been carefully designed by ATJC's own IT engineers, and is intended to help participants acquire advanced technical knowledge and skills that will enable them to perform competently on projects right from the start.

Background of the Curriculum Development

The genesis of this training program stems from several key factors:

1. Demand for Practical Learning

ATJC has traditionally provided foundational training in development and infrastructure during the initial 2-3 months for new employees. However, feedback from engineers on site indicated a strong desire for deeper, practical knowledge that could be immediately applied in real-world situations.

2. Elevating Company-wide Technical Skills

The proficiency of engineers directly influences the competitive edge of a company. To improve the overall technical capabilities within ATJC, the company sought to establish a framework that encourages specialized learning.

3. Supporting Skill Changes for Career Diversification

Some engineers, after gaining experience, wish to shift their focus from infrastructure to development or vice versa. This training program aims to support such transitions, creating an environment where engineers can broaden their career possibilities.

4. Enhancing Customer Satisfaction

By developing engineers' skill sets, ATJC aims to improve the technical services provided to clients. A workforce capable of becoming immediate contributors will enhance the overall quality of service, thereby increasing customer satisfaction.

Program Content

The training is structured as an intensive, hands-on curriculum lasting six months, mainly targeting engineers in their first to third years of service. Employees can choose between two tracks: a Java course or an Amazon Web Service (AWS) course, aligned with their career aspirations. To ensure quality, the number of participants in each course is limited, allowing instructors to provide tailored support.

Training is conducted in a team setting of around eight members, simulating real project environments where each team member has specific roles. This collaborative approach fosters practical skill acquisition.

What Participants Can Expect

In the Java course, participants will engage in practical exercises based on developing an e-commerce site. They will learn to create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), understand design documentation, and use SQL and the Spring Framework to execute tasks and conduct testing. By the end of the training, participants will be able to autonomously navigate all aspects from detailed design through manufacturing, as well as unit and integration testing, emphasizing quality development practices.

In the AWS course, the curriculum begins with preparation for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA) exam. The second half of the course focuses on real-world application, where participants will build a cloud-based attendance management system. From requirements gathering to design and implementation on AWS, including serverless architecture and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), participants will gain comprehensive skills by the completion of the program.

Insights from ATJC Engineers

Engineer O (Java Course)

O commented on the importance of this program, highlighting that upon joining the company, he found it challenging to identify effective learning resources for development. He noted that the structured training fosters an understanding of development practices and offers an experience that cannot be replicated through self-study alone.

Engineer Y (AWS Course)

Y emphasized the program's hands-on approach, contrasting it with previous training that relied heavily on theoretical knowledge. He believes that the practical experience gained during this training equips participants with the confidence to excel in operational roles post-training.
