Historic Leadership Change at White Castle
White Castle, the legendary fast-food chain known for its original Sliders, has announced a major leadership transition with the appointment of Anthony Joseph as the new president. This appointment signifies a historic moment for the 104-year-old company, as Joseph becomes the first individual outside of the founding family to hold this prestigious position.
Joseph's journey with White Castle began in 2016, and since then, he has played an essential role within the organization, overseeing various critical areas such as legal affairs, risk management, technology, and corporate communications. His extensive knowledge and commitment to the company made him a perfect candidate to undertake this significant responsibility.
In the announcement of his new position, Lisa Ingram, the current CEO and board chair, expressed her confidence in Joseph's abilities, stating, "His keen intellect, insight, and devotion to the people of White Castle are evident in everything he does." Joseph's leadership will be crucial as he not only leads the retail and manufacturing divisions but also drives the company's strategic planning forward.
Joseph shared his thoughts, saying, "It’s an honor to be named president of White Castle. We are a 104-year-old family business, and I humbly embrace this opportunity to make a positive difference for our customers, our communities, and our teams." This leadership change is not just about a new title; it is also a commitment to the vision of growing the business while continuing to honor its historic roots.
Over the past few years, White Castle has reached several significant milestones. The chain celebrated its centennial in 2021, marking 100 years of serving beloved Sliders and opened new locations in places like Phoenix and Orlando. In that same year, the brand hit a record by selling its six billionth retail Slider and began a multimillion-dollar expansion of its production facility in Vandalia, Ohio to keep up with growing demand. This facility, known as "The House That Bill Built," is a key production site that supplies Sliders to retail locations across the country.
Before joining White Castle, Joseph dedicated over 15 years to Concessions International, a food and beverage company, where he served as general counsel and later as president. Besides his corporate achievements, he is actively involved in the community, having served on various boards, including the National Restaurant Association and Columbus State Community College. His dedication to social causes is also notable as he was a member of the Peace Corps.
On a personal note, Joseph is a proud father of two college-aged children and an enthusiastic supporter of Liverpool FC. He takes pride in spending quality time with his wife, Leslie, enjoying life outside of his professional commitments.
White Castle, America’s first fast-food hamburger chain, continues to thrive with its innovative practices and commitment to quality. As it moves forward under the leadership of Anthony Joseph, the company remains dedicated to its motto of "Feeding the Souls of Craver Generations Everywhere," while reinforcing its legacy as a beloved fast-food powerhouse.
