Wellpath Partners with Second Harvest Food Bank to Bring Hope to Our Community
In an inspiring move to bolster local support, Wellpath has officially entered into a remarkable partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. This collaboration revolves around a Virtual Food Drive designed to address the rampant issue of food insecurity affecting many families in the region, particularly during the holiday season.
As healthcare providers, Wellpath acknowledges that their mission extends beyond just physical health; they are committed to fostering hope and healing within the communities they serve. This partnership reflects a deep-seated belief that healthcare encompasses various aspects of well-being, including access to nutritious food.
Debbie Jandt, Chief Human Resources Officer at Wellpath, noted, "This initiative represents our dedication to nurturing a culture of giving and community connection within our workplace." The Virtual Food Drive allows Wellpath team members an effective and convenient way to contribute. Every dollar donated directly translates into meals for those most in need. To amplify the impact of each contribution, Wellpath pledged to match all donations dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. This means that even small contributions can provide double the nourishment to struggling families.
The importance of this effort is underscored by the alarming rate of food insecurity—many families in Middle Tennessee are facing tough times, especially during the holidays. As noted by Nancy Keil, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, "We are witnessing a significant increase in families seeking support as they struggle to put food on the table. Partnerships like this make a profound difference in addressing these urgent needs."
The Virtual Food Drive also served a dual purpose—encouraging the Wellpath employees to actively engage in philanthropy while supporting a vital cause. It stands as a testament to the company's core values of compassion and community service. The recent drive successfully met its target, raising a commendable $25,000 for food relief, enabling Second Harvest to extend its reach and deliver even more meals to families across the area.
For nearly fifty years, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has been a cornerstone in the fight against hunger, working sustainably with a network of over 600 partners across 46 counties. Their multifaceted approach tackles food insecurity through food pantries, shelters, and numerous community programs that provide safe and nutritious meals to those in need.
Wellpath is proud to play an active role in this ongoing initiative and demonstrates a steadfast commitment to uplifting the communities it serves. With each partnership and initiative, Wellpath emphasizes the significance of healthcare that transcends the clinical setting and contributes holistically to social well-being.
As the partnership continues to grow and evolve, both Wellpath and Second Harvest look forward to expanding their efforts in combating food insecurity. Together, they hope to inspire others to recognize the urgency of the cause and join in the efforts to support families at risk of hunger.
