U.S. Orthopaedic Partners Welcomes Dean Brown as New Regional Director of ASC Operations

U.S. Orthopaedic Partners Appoints Dean Brown as New Regional Director of ASC Operations

In a significant move aimed at enhancing its operational capabilities, U.S. Orthopaedic Partners (USOP) has appointed Dean Brown, MBA, CASC, CMPE, as the new Regional Director of Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Operations. This new role reflects USOP's commitment to coordination and efficiency in outpatient surgical care across its network, which currently comprises 10 leading orthopedic practices spanning the Southeastern region of the United States.

Strategic Focus on ASC Development

Within his new responsibilities, Brown will spearhead ASC initiatives across USOP's operational framework. His primary objective will be to implement performance improvement strategies at existing surgery centers and facilitate the establishment of new ASCs. An immediate priority for Brown is supporting the Mid State Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Center, which is scheduled to open a new ambulatory surgery center in Alexandria, Louisiana, in the upcoming fall season.

The expansion of USOP's ASC footprint is already impressive, featuring award-winning facilities at locations such as the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, and Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Brown's leadership is expected to further bolster these initiatives as additional ASC openings are planned through to 2028.

Experience Tailored for Success

Dean Brown brings over 20 years of leadership experience within the ASC industry, specializing in orthopedic surgery center operations. His prior role as CEO at the Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic provided him with firsthand insights into the complexities and nuances of ASC development, compliance, and operational efficiency. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a keen ability to work in close alignment with physician partners, enhancing operational performance and physician engagement.

"Alignment is crucial for the success of an ambulatory surgery center," remarked Brown. "When clinical teams, physicians, and operational units are united in their objectives, it translates to superior patient care and impressive outcomes. My mission is to foster this alignment and advocate for the growth and success of each facility."

Supporting Local Leadership

At the Mid State Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Center, Brown has already begun collaborating with local leaders in preparation for the operational launch of the new ASC in Alexandria. This center aims to greatly improve access to high-quality orthopedic surgery for patients throughout Central Louisiana.

Scott Coleman, CEO of Mid State, emphasized the importance of Brown’s involvement, describing it as a pivotal addition. "Having Dean on our team gives us a significant advantage; he is not only seasoned in operations but also possesses a profound understanding of orthopedic surgeons and how to optimize ASC operations while maintaining a patient-centered approach."

Future Growth and Commitment

USOP continues to place a strong emphasis on the growth and optimization of its ASCs, as a notable increase in orthopedic procedures transitions to outpatient settings. The organization's commitment to developing ASCs fosters an environment where superior patient care can be delivered effectively. Allen Anderson, Co-CEO of USOP, remarked, "Bringing someone with Dean's extensive experience on board underscores USOP's commitment to creating robust operational infrastructures. As we grow, our physicians expect us to provide authentic operational strength, particularly concerning areas like ASCs. Dean's addition signals USOP's forward momentum in building better support mechanisms for our practices."
