TCL CSOT Marks Major Milestone with Early Completion of t8 OLED Project

TCL CSOT Successfully Tops Out t8 Project Ahead of Schedule

In a significant advancement for display technology, TCL CSOT has celebrated a major milestone with the topping-out ceremony of its Gen 8.6 Inkjet-printed OLED (IJP OLED) production line in Guangzhou, China. Known as the t8 project, this achievement not only marks the completion of the factory's main structure but also signals the commencement of a new phase in the industry's quest for advanced display solutions.

A Record-Breaking Achievement

This groundbreaking ceremony, held on May 12, 2026, underscored TCL CSOT's commitment to innovation and efficiency. In just 151 days, the company completed the main structure, setting a new industry standard for rapid construction. The t8 project is expected to drive TCL CSOT’s future in the display sector, with a total investment of $4.34 billion (approximately CNY 29.5 billion) aimed at producing high-quality OLED displays.

According to Dr. Weiran Cao, Chief of the IJP OLED Center at TCL CSOT, this project's early completion reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire team. The t8 facility has the capability to manufacture 22,500 glass substrates each month, which is a vital step towards mass production.

Technological Advancements

The t8 project introduces the world’s first Gen 8.6 IJP OLED production line, utilizing innovative inkjet-printing technology. This method allows for precise deposition of organic light-emitting materials onto large glass substrates (measuring 2290×2620mm), significantly improving material utilization rates compared to traditional manufacturing methods like vacuum evaporation. Such advancements not only boost production yields but also promote sustainable practices in the display manufacturing process.

The t8 line is positioned to cater to multiple sectors within the display market, including mobile devices, desktops, televisions, and automotive displays. This strategic focus on high-end mid-size displays signifies TCL CSOT’s transition from a pilot research and development environment to advanced, large-scale manufacturing capabilities.

Future Outlook

With 13 years of research and development experience in IJP OLED technology, TCL CSOT has developed a comprehensive production system capable of meeting the increasing demand for quality displays. The success of earlier projects, such as the Wuhan G5.5 IJP OLED line, which began mass production in November 2024, provides a strong foundation for the t8 initiative.

In the upcoming phases following the topping-out milestone, TCL CSOT will focus on completing the necessary finishing touches, alongside installing power systems and relocating essential equipment. As the facility becomes fully operational, TCL CSOT aims to expand its OLED product portfolio, ensuring they can deliver an unmatched display experience to customers around the globe.

The t8 project not only solidifies TCL CSOT's leadership in the next-generation display industry but also reinforces its commitment to sustainable production methods and technological innovation. The company’s endeavor is clear: to lead the market with state-of-the-art displays that meet the evolving needs of consumers. As TCL CSOT prepares to launch its latest line of products, it stands at the forefront of a new era in display technology.
