This week, Coventry filed a legal objection aimed at thwarting Lapetus' efforts to prevent the disclosure of required auditing reports on life expectancy. The underlying issue stems from Lapetus' assertion of trade secret rights, which Coventry firmly disputes.

The legal proceedings highlight Coventry’s belief that the integrity of the life insurance market hinges on transparency, particularly concerning the accuracy of life expectancy estimates. Coventry has also submitted a motion for a summary judgment, arguing that Lapetus' announced closure of operations by August 31, 2025, nullifies any claim to trade secret protection. According to Florida law, life expectancy service providers are required to submit three-year audit reports to the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) for the five calendar years preceding each audit.
