Department of the Air Force Gaming League Announces Spring 2025 Season
The Department of the Air Force Gaming League (DAFGL) has announced its highly anticipated Spring 2025 Season, promising a competitive gaming experience that caters to Airmen, Guardians, and gaming enthusiasts across the globe. This season will showcase a variety of popular titles across two main league formats: the Core Leagues and the Ladder Leagues.
Core Leagues: Enhanced Competition
The Core Leagues will highlight two beloved game titles:
- - Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (4v4 CDL Format)
- - League of Legends (5v5 Summoner's Rift)
The competition will span a thrilling eight-week period, incorporating either a Swiss or Round Robin format, which will culminate in high-stakes playoffs. The eight teams that perform the best will enter a single-elimination tournament, with finals scheduled for live broadcast on May 3 and 4, 2025. Here are the key dates for the Core Leagues:
- - January 13: Registration opens
- - February 5: Registration closes; brackets formed
- - February 8: First day of matches
- - March 29: Final day of the regular season
- - April 26-27: Quarterfinals and Semifinals
- - May 3-4: Finals Broadcast
Ladder Leagues: Open Competition
Offering a different flavor, the Ladder Leagues will allow participation in five popular titles that promote fierce competition:
- - Warzone (2v2)
- - Rocket League (2v2)
- - Magic: The Gathering (Pauper Format, 1v1)
- - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (1v1)
- - Apex Legends (3v3)
What's particularly exciting about the Ladder Leagues is the lack of rank restrictions or military status requirements. Any participant can join, making it accessible to both experienced gamers and individuals new to the gaming scene. Queues will be active every weekend—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—ensuring that players have the flexibility to compete at their convenience.
Key dates for the Ladder Leagues include:
- - January 13: Registration opens (ongoing throughout the season)
- - January 18: Ladder queues open
- - May 4: Final day of Ladders
