New Solutions for Employment of People with Disabilities
In a significant move to address the ongoing challenges of employing individuals with disabilities, Mynavi Partners, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced the launch of the STARS skill visualization event. This initiative aims to assist companies in recognizing and utilizing the abilities of disabled employees effectively. Starting August 1, 2023, companies will be able to access this solution at no cost.
Background and Context
With the legal employment rate for individuals with disabilities set to rise to 2.7% by July 2026, companies are increasingly compelled to enhance their hiring practices for this demographic. However, surveys conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare reveal that over 70% of businesses still face significant obstacles, particularly regarding the availability of suitable roles and the integration of disabled employees into productive workforces. The existing reality is that employment does not consistently translate into enhanced productivity or business outcomes.
About STARS
Launched in 2025, STARS evaluates speed, accuracy, and quality across various practical domains. The recent internal events included competitions in typing, programming, design, and light manual labor, attracting 252 participants and achieving a remarkable 335 entries. By quantifiably assessing individual capabilities, STARS helps companies strategically deploy and develop talent. For external companies, the event allows them to select competitions tailored to their business needs, starting from just one participant.
Benefits of Implementing STARS
1. Optimal Placement (Reducing Mismatches)
By gaining a clear understanding of skills quantitatively, firms can create roles and assignments that align with the abilities of their employees.
2. Enhanced Productivity and Utilization
By strategically placing individuals where they excel, companies can stabilize the quality of output and boost overall productivity.
3. Advanced Talent Development
Data-driven visibility into growth challenges facilitates self-directed skill enhancement and career development.
4. Eliminating Unconscious Bias
Transitioning from subjective evaluations to ones based on objective data promotes clearer insights into workforce capabilities.
Event Logistics and Overview
The program provides a comprehensive package including rules, sample answers, and results sheets for participants. Additionally, a skill visualization diagnosis will be conducted, culminating in an analysis report that includes comparative data with other companies. The application phase runs from July 1-30, followed by competitions scheduled between August 1 and 31. After collection, organizations will receive performance analysis insights based on participant data.
Upcoming Information Sessions
To help interested companies grasp the STARS program's objectives, explanatory sessions will be held on June 24 and June 26. We invite organizations considering this initiative to join us and learn more about how STARS can enhance their workforce's capabilities.
Previous Events and Experience
The last internal competition, held in June 2025, featured twelve events across categories such as PC operations, creative tasks, and light manual labor. Approximately 180 employees participated, showcasing their skills and proving the effectiveness of such evaluations in identifying exceptional capabilities.
Conclusion
Mynavi Partners is committed to increasing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to demonstrate their skills and strengths. The launch of the STARS skill visualization event represents a proactive step towards not only meeting legal employment requirements but also fostering an inclusive work environment where all employees can thrive.
