ATLANT 3D and A*STAR IMRE Forge Partnership to Propel AI Materials Discovery in Singapore

ATLANT 3D and ASTAR IMRE Join Forces for Advanced Materials Discovery in Singapore

In a significant move to bolster materials innovation, ATLANT 3D, the A
STAR Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to create an advanced materials development hub, dubbed the "A-HUB," located in Singapore. The A-HUB is set to enhance the capabilities in the discovery and optimization of materials through advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Key Objectives and Benefits of the A-HUB

The combined expertise of ATLANT 3D and ASTAR IMRE will focus on deploying ATLANT 3D's proprietary technology known as Direct Atomic Layer Processing (DALP®). This technology will be integrated with ASTAR IMRE's profound knowledge in materials engineering and NAMIC's additive manufacturing capabilities. Together, they will investigate various applications powered by AI, specifically in the areas of advanced encapsulation, silicon photonics, and semiconductor manufacturing.

The A-HUB is envisioned to accelerate high-throughput material synthesis, autonomous material discovery, and the speedy development of innovative technologies. By fostering partnerships with industrial stakeholders, the hub aspires to bring breakthrough projects to fruition and reinforce Singapore's sovereign infrastructure in advanced manufacturing and materials innovation.

Insights from Leaders on the Collaboration

Dr. Maksym Plakhotnyuk, the founder and CEO of ATLANT 3D, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Singapore stands at the forefront of global adoption of cutting-edge materials and next-generation manufacturing technologies. Partnering our DALP® technology with ASTAR's world-class materials expertise and NAMIC's innovation ecosystem, we intend to establish the world's first high-speed materials innovation foundry, targeting cutting-edge applications across semiconductors, silicon photonics, and advanced encapsulation technologies."

Prof. Loh Xian Jun, Executive Director at A
STAR IMRE, highlighted the importance of this partnership by noting, "Incorporating ATLANT 3D's leading-edge atomic layer processing capabilities into our materials development process will significantly enhance our ability to discover and optimize functional thin-film materials more efficiently. The synergy between ATLANT 3D’s deposition technology and IMRE's extensive materials science expertise and cutting-edge characterization infrastructure will allow us to convert research into tangible outcomes for Singapore's advanced manufacturing sector."

Dr. Ho Chaw Sing, CEO of NAMIC and Executive Director of the ASTAR Science and Engineering Research Council, elaborated on the strategic significance, indicating that, "The next leap for humanity necessitates groundbreaking advancements in materials with superior properties, enabled by digital closed-loop 3D printing processes. The A-HUB is envisaged as a collaborative platform to bridge research, industry, and ecosystem participants, accelerating the transition of advanced materials from the lab to manufacturing, thus solidifying Singapore's standing as a global hub in next-generation materials and advanced manufacturing."

Conclusion

The establishment of the A-HUB in Singapore signals a bold step towards revolutionizing materials science and engineering. By harnessing cutting-edge technology and fostering collaborative innovation, ATLANT 3D, A
STAR IMRE, and NAMIC are well-positioned to lead the way in advancing the landscape of materials discovery and innovation on a global scale.
