Celebrating Eight Years of Clean Water Partnership
On this year's International Day of Charity, Waterdrop Filter proudly marks an eight-year journey of impactful collaboration with The Water Project, dedicated to improving access to clean water in western Kenya. Since their collaboration began in 2017, this partnership has enabled thousands of families and children to have access to safe drinking water, evolving from individual project sponsorships to a comprehensive program that aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
The Beginning of a Meaningful Journey
The partnership took shape in 2016 when leaders from Waterdrop Filter learned about the pressing water scarcity issues facing Sub-Saharan Africa. With a firm belief that access to clean water is a fundamental human right, Waterdrop Filter initiated the Water4Smile campaign in 2017. This innovative project ensures that for every water purifier sold, a child benefits from a day of clean drinking water.
Choosing The Water Project as a trusted partner has allowed Waterdrop Filter to establish a collaboration that embodies their commitment to global solidarity. This vision aims for 100% access to clean and safe water for all individuals in the region, and the results speak volumes. Since its inception, The Water Project has facilitated access to clean and reliable water for more than 900,000 people in western Kenya, having completed over 2,600 installations, all maintained with an impressive functionality rate of 96%.
Voices of the Beneficiaries
At Kakoyi Primary School, Angel, a 13-year-old student, shared her excitement about the new water source: "The new water source will help our parents save resources, as we will no longer suffer from waterborne illnesses. Teachers will have more time to focus on us, as we won't have to leave school to fetch water anymore."
Philip, the President of Waterdrop Filter, expressed his sentiments on this day, stating, "On this International Day of Charity, we are reminded that access to clean drinking water is not merely a fundamental human need but also the cornerstone of dignity, education, and equality. Our eight-year journey with The Water Project demonstrates that consistent charitable action can transform communities and create sustainable change."
