The English Language Education Council (ELEC) has announced its Summer English Education Training Program for 2026. Supported by the Ministry of Education, this year’s workshops will be held both in-person and online, providing unique opportunities for English educators to gather, share ideas, and discover innovative strategies for their classrooms.

Program Overview


The ELEC program will run from July 27 to August 17, 2026, targeting elementary and secondary school English teachers, as well as those with a keen interest in English education. In-Person Workshops


Dates: August 10 - 16, 2026
Morning session: 9:30 AM - 12:20 PM
Afternoon session: 1:30 PM - 4:20 PM
Location: Yasuda Community Plaza, Kanda Nishikicho 2-9, Chiyoda, Tokyo
Capacity: 60 participants

The in-person workshops will feature experienced instructors such as Goro Tajiri, Makiko Nakajima, and others, who will convey key points and tips for effective lesson planning. Each course will be a one-day program, ensuring easy access for newcomers.

Online Workshops


Dates: July 27, August 1, 5, 6, and 17, 2026
Morning Session: 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Platform: Conducted via ZOOM
Capacity: Approximately 60 participants

In the online format, instructors such as Shinsaku Hashimoto and Nobuyuki Matsushita will present engaging topics designed to enhance teaching methods and classroom engagement. Participants can select their courses based on convenience and interests.

Special Workshop for Elementary Teachers


Online Dates: August 3, & 7, 2026
In-Person Date: August 9, 2026

For elementary school educators, special workshops will be conducted, providing valuable insights into teaching English at a young age. Participants will collaborate and gain practical experience to apply in their teaching settings.

Registration and Fees


Registration is open until the capacity of each workshop is reached. Fees for the one-day courses are as follows:

  • - In-person training: 11,000 yen (including materials and taxes)
  • - Online training: 8,800 yen (including materials and taxes)
