Sunwoda Unveils Innovative 684Ah and 588Ah Energy Storage Cells at RE+25

Sunwoda Unveils Innovative Energy Storage Solutions

In a significant moment for the energy storage industry, Sunwoda, a prominent global provider of energy storage solutions, showcased its latest innovations at the RE+25 conference: the new 684Ah and 588Ah energy storage cells. These cutting-edge products not only enhance Sunwoda’s standing in the market but also address the evolving needs of energy storage across various applications.

Introduction of the New Cells

During the event, Dr. Sam Chen, the General Manager of the Battery Energy Storage Systems Business Unit at Sunwoda, emphasized, "The launch of these high-capacity energy storage cells marks a pivotal milestone in our relentless pursuit of innovation and development in energy storage technologies." The 684Ah model, crafted using advanced stacking technology, boasts an impressive energy density of over 440 Wh/L. Coupled with a three-dimensional thermal-electric separation structure, these cells ensure safe and stable operation, promising a lifespan exceeding 20 years.

One of the standout features of the 684Ah cell is its flexibility, allowing it to be seamlessly integrated with 10-foot, 20-foot, and 30-foot containers. This high-density design significantly reduces container usage by 27%, shortens assembly time, lowers costs, and decreases the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) by 8%. Such advancements not only enhance deployment speed but also improve overall economic viability. Full-scale production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 to meet burgeoning market demand.

On the other hand, the 588Ah cell leverages proven winding technology enriched by innovations that minimize lithium loss. This design extension extends the operational lifespan to 10,000 cycles at 70% State of Health (SOH), ensuring reliable operation for more than 20 years. Furthermore, it features a remarkable energy efficiency of 96.5%, advanced electrolyte safety, and a directed ventilation design, all contributing to prolonged stability and cost-effectiveness.

Sunwoda’s Impact and Growth

As one of the world leaders in integrated new energy technologies, Sunwoda ranked among the top ten energy storage cell providers in the first half of 2025, achieving recognition from BloombergNEF as a Tier-1 manufacturer of energy storage solutions. The company is agilely expanding its international manufacturing footprint, with facilities established in China, Thailand, Hungary, and other locations. This expansion guarantees localized, efficient, and reliable supply chain support for global markets.

Through the introduction of the 684Ah and 588Ah cells, Sunwoda continues to solidify its commitment to advancing large-capacity energy storage solutions and facilitating the transition to a more sustainable energy future. With a history dating back to 1997, Sunwoda has not only secured its leadership in lithium-ion battery technology with industry-leading solutions but has also established itself as a hidden champion in the realm of 3C batteries. Today, it holds a significant position among the global top ten for performance battery installations, shipments of energy storage cells, and energy storage systems, further validated by its Tier-1 status from Bloomberg in energy storage systems.
