Markel International Welcomes Jasminder Kaur as Principal Officer in Malaysia

Markel Insurance, the insurance arm of Markel Group Inc. (NYSE:MKL), has announced the significant appointment of Jasminder Kaur as its Principal Officer for Malaysia, effective immediately. This strategic decision underscores Markel's commitment to enhancing its operations in one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic economies, which boasts a well-established specialty insurance market.

In her new position, Jasminder Kaur will oversee the scaling of Markel's operations in Malaysia and collaborate closely with the underwriting team based in Singapore. She is tasked with strengthening the company's presence in Kuala Lumpur and building out Markel's underwriting capabilities in the region. Presently, Markel operates in Malaysia as a licensed Tier 2 reinsurer in Labuan, and this appointment is expected to further solidify the company's foothold within the market.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Kaur is a seasoned professional with robust expertise in risk management and broking. Her most recent role was as Chief Executive Officer of MP Honan Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, where she successfully transformed the local brokerage into an international boutique firm. This transformation led to significant sales growth and operational improvement. Before her tenure at MP Honan, Kaur spent over eight years at Aon Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, where she held various leadership roles, including that of Chief Broking Officer. Her proven track record in enhancing operational efficiency and driving results positions her as a valuable asset to Markel’s strategic objectives.

Kaur will report directly to Kevin Leung, Chief Underwriting Officer – Asia Pacific.
