Celebrating a Decade of Compassion: No Dogs Left Behind
In a remarkable celebration of life and hope, No Dogs Left Behind (NDLB) recently commemorated ten years of unwavering dedication to rescuing dogs destined for slaughter. Founded in 2016 by Jeff Beri, the organization has successfully saved over 10,000 dogs, marking a pivotal milestone in the ongoing fight against the dog meat trade, particularly in East Asia. The celebration, which took place on September 4th at Kidd Squid Brewing Co. in Sag Harbor, New York, attracted a diverse crowd of animal lovers, families, and supporters, all unified by a shared mission of compassion for our canine companions.
An Evening of Hope and Community
The event was more than just a fundraiser; it was a community gathering filled with joy and camaraderie. Families brought their dogs, and children basked in the innocence of playing with their four-legged friends while adults enjoyed culinary delights and live music. Jeff Beri emphasized the event's significance, stating, "This is a night to remember. The momentum we've built here is essential for our upcoming campaigns. Every donation counts in our mission to save lives."
With a fundraising goal of $150,000, Beri outlined several key initiatives aimed at enhancing the organization's rescue efforts:
1.
Freedom Flights for 475 dogs from China, allowing them to find loving homes in the U.S.
2. A large-scale initiative to combat dog trafficking—one of NDLB's most ambitious undertakings to date.
3. A cry for global attention with a
Rescue, Vaccination, and Sterilization Tour starting in Ukraine.
4. Expansion of the U.S. sanctuary to accommodate emergency rescues.
5. Development of education programs in East Asia to promote adoption and care of rescued animals.
These efforts exemplify NDLB's commitment to giving dogs a second chance at life, reuniting them with loving families and fostering awareness about the atrocities of the dog meat trade.
Celebrity Spotlight
One notable highlight of the evening was the appearance of NBA champion Josh Hart, a passionate advocate for animal welfare. His presence brought an electrifying energy to the event as he mingled with attendees, signed autographs, and posed for photos with families. "Seeing Josh Hart take the time to connect with our community and the dogs was a priceless moment," Beri reflected. Hart's genuine enthusiasm for dogs amplified the event's core message: every individual can play a part in the rescue mission.
Stories of Triumph
The evening featured heartwarming tales from four families who shared their experiences with adopted dogs that were once victims of the dog meat trade. Dogs like Mercy, Simba, Flash, and Bozie were living testaments to the transformative power of love and care. Their stories of resilience resonated with attendees, highlighting the incredible work NDLB has accomplished over the past decade. Volunteers took the stage to recount their journeys, shedding light on both the challenges faced and the triumphant moments of rescue operations.
A Grateful Thanks
None of this would have been possible without the support of the Sag Harbor community and local businesses. NDLB expressed heartfelt gratitude to sponsors such as Kidd Squid Brewing Co., Tramontano Produce, Tutto Café, and BonBon NYC. Their collaboration embodied the spirit of compassion and community, making the evening not only enjoyable but impactful.
In closing, No Dogs Left Behind proves that with tenacity, love, and community support, remarkable change is achievable. As Beri passionately conveys, "We are committed to ending the dog meat trade and promoting animal welfare across the globe. Together, we can ensure that no dog is left behind."
