Coordinated by West Japan Railway Company, Kyoto Station Building Development Co., and Hotel Granvia Kyoto, this engaging experience invites families to dive deep into the world of artisan crafts.

Held to commemorate the Spring Equinox Day, which Kyoto City recognizes as 'Day of Traditional Industries,' this event is a must-visit for families looking for a fun and educational outing.

What Awaits You?


The event features a series of 19 hands-on workshops, allowing participants to learn and create various traditional crafts.
1. Washi Craft: Delve into the art of making water-dipped accessories including hair ornaments and earrings using colored water twine.
2. Tatami Mats: Create customized ‘Oshi Tatami’ that showcases your favorite character or mascot.
3. Wooden Plates: Experience the joy of embellishing wooden plates engraved with Kyo-Yuzuki patterns.
4. Kyo-Yuzuki Painting: Partake in hand-painted Yuzuki coloring sessions, indulging in the joy of crafting.

These workshops are designed to be suitable for children, ensuring that even the youngest participants can have fun while learning about these ancient techniques. With prices starting at just 1,000 yen and hands-on experiences lasting about 20 minutes, this event is both affordable and accessible.

In addition, participants can uncover the secrets behind the essential Japanese broth, 'dashi.' Led by the Executive Chef and General Manager of Hotel Granvia Kyoto, Masaru Miura, there will be a special corner where adults and children alike can learn how to make dashi, explore different flavors, and even touch kombu!

  • - Location: Hotel Granvia Kyoto, 5th-floor banquet hall 'Kokin no Ma'
  • - Admission Fee: Free for entry, Workshop experience starting from 1,000 yen (including tax), same fee applies regardless of age.

Tickets can be purchased on-site or in advance from our online shop starting February 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM until March 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM.

As a delightful bonus, children under elementary school age who purchase a workshop ticket will receive a 500 yen voucher to use at the workshop venue on the day of the event.
