Dr. Joseph Gomes, MD, has recently gained significant recognition from Marquis Who's Who for his outstanding leadership within the medical field, particularly in the realm of innovative healthcare solutions for women. As the founder and chief medical officer of Gomes Medical Corporation, Dr. Gomes has established himself as a key figure in both clinical practice and medical education.

An Unconventional Journey to Medicine

Dr. Gomes's path toward a career in medicine was not conventional. He began as a coordinator at Blood Source, where his talent caught the eye of the organization’s executives. This opportunity led to sponsorship for his education aimed at leadership roles. However, as he delved into his studies in biology and biomedical sciences, his passions shifted from business to patient care.

He earned his undergraduate degrees from American River College and California State University, Sacramento, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2017. This academic foundation paved the way for his entry into healthcare administration and clinical responsibilities.

Clinical Leadership and Experience

Following his medical education, Dr. Gomes honed his skills in various significant roles, including as a peer-review specialist at Adventist Health. His residency was completed at the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Program at Kern Medical/Clinica Sierra Vista, where he was named chief resident in 2020. Throughout his career, he has worked with Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente, where he has been instrumental in outpatient family medicine and Telehealth initiatives.

Dr. Gomes has also taken on teaching roles, contributing to the education of future medical professionals as adjunct faculty at Kaiser Permanente's Family Medicine Residency Program. His diverse experiences have solidified his reputation as both a skilled practitioner and a mentor in the medical community.

In 2025, Dr. Gomes launched Gomes Medical Corporation, a Direct Primary Care (DPC) clinic in Folsom, California, with a particular focus on addressing critical needs in women’s health. The clinic offers both in-person and virtual appointments, ensuring accessibility for all patients. Dr. Gomes’s mission includes innovating the approach to breast cancer awareness and screenings.
