On May 14, 2023, Antway, a Japanese food tech company based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, unveiled its innovative home-cooked meal subscription service, Tsukurio. This initiative aims to redefine the way individuals manage their daily cooking responsibilities by delivering curated meal options right to their doorsteps.

At a recent launch event, the new brand ambassador Yuko Oshima, a prominent figure in Japanese entertainment, shared her personal experiences with Tsukurio. Gracing the stage, Oshima expressed her excitement about becoming an ambassador and revealed that she already incorporates Tsukurio's offerings into her family meals. With a playful attitude, she mentioned how she sometimes presents Tsukurio dishes to her children as if they were homemade, joyfully exclaiming, "Mom made this for you!"

In sharing an amusing anecdote about her three-year-old son, who once asked for an additional dish after she prepared three meals, Oshima highlighted the pressure parents face when it comes to meal preparation: "It really took me by surprise. But in those moments, knowing that I have Tsukurio in the fridge gives me peace of mind."

Reflecting on the nature of modern parenting, Oshima described Tsukurio as an "essential support" for households. Not only for parents, but also for anyone looking to cherish their time with loved ones or simply wanting to reclaim a bit of their personal time. She emphasized how using such a service can significantly enrich daily living.

Emphasizing Time for Family


During the event, insights emerged about the daily struggles of meal planning. When asked by the host how she would allocate her freed time if she offloaded cooking responsibilities to Tsukurio, Oshima replied, "I want to manage my household chores better." She shared the challenge many parents face juggling multiple tasks and the frequent sacrifice of personal time. Oshima insists that sharing meals with her child is precious, creating memorable moments and reinforcing connections at the family table.

In the realm of household tasks, a staggering 90% of people often feel stress from so-called "hidden chores"—the underlying planning and decision-making associated with daily tasks like meal prep. Oshima resonated with this statistic, particularly singling out meal planning as the number one hidden chore, noting, "It requires a lot of brainpower and creativity to balance health and presentation—like being an artist in the kitchen!"

During the event, Oshima showcased some of her favorite dishes from Tsukurio—like the Vegetable-loaded Eight Treasures Stir-fry and Yellow Vegetable Salad with Eggs. She commented on the appealing colors and delicious flavors that her children enjoyed, adding, "The taste is perfectly balanced and wholesome—something both kids and adults will love!"

Tsukurio's Vision for the Future


Antway's CEO, Megumi Maeshima, also spoke at the event, unveiling a comprehensive study indicating that women spend an average of 117 minutes a day on household chores, with 60% of that time dedicated to cooking. In a bid to counteract the stress of meal planning, Tsukurio offers an all-inclusive service that minimizes daily burdens while maximizing life quality.

Serving as an exemplary model of merging convenience with quality, Tsukurio plans on expanding its reach nationwide, aiming for a gross merchandise value (GMV) target of 10 billion yen by summer 2026. Inspired by its rapid growth, the company has already delivered around 30 million meals across 46 prefectures in Japan, showing phenomenal annual growth of 285% since its inception in 2020.

In light of global aspirations, the service has recently made strides into international markets, such as Singapore, where it saw promising sales from the onset, reinforcing its vision as a leading global food tech enterprise. Maeshima concluded, expressing a hopeful outlook for Tsukurio as not just a special occasion option but a staple in everyday dining for families everywhere.
