Knox Systems Supports DoD's Initiative to Accelerate Secure Software Deployment

Knox Systems Backs DoD's SWFT Initiative

Knox Systems, a leader in the federal cloud market with the largest and longest-running FedRAMP and DISA-authorized SaaS cloud, has stepped forward to support the Department of Defense's (DoD) Software Fast Track (SWFT) initiative. This program aims to reform the process of assessing, authorizing, and deploying software used in defense missions.

As an early participant in this groundbreaking initiative, Knox responded to all three Requests for Information (RFIs) issued by SWFT, which focus on Tools, External Assessment Methodologies, and Automation AI. Knox Systems has emphasized how its AI-driven platform, KnoxAI, can provide real-time, mission-focused risk assessments while automating compliance processes at scale.

KnoxAI is already making strides, operating within secure cloud environments for various esteemed agencies, including the U.S. Marine Corps, DCSA, and NRO. Its capabilities ensure quicker and more efficient pathways to obtaining Authorization to Operate (ATO). The platform processes Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) and telemetry, contextualizes potential vulnerabilities, and automatically generates Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) along with NIST-800 documentation, all efficiently managing thousands of scans.

Irina Denisenko, CEO of Knox Systems, articulated the future of ATO, stating, "The future of ATO is autonomous, continuous, and contextual. SWFT marks a pivotal change in how we handle software risk within government sectors. We take pride in applying our expertise and technological advancements to accelerate secure software deployment at the mission edge."

The introduction of the SWFT initiative comes in response to growing concerns regarding the slow and outdated nature of traditional software authorization processes. During public discussions, DoD Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Katie Arrington underscored that the objective of SWFT is to
