Ardbeg Updates Its Packaging and Introduces a New Classic
The world-renowned Islay single malt Scotch whisky,
Ardbeg, is poised for a significant transformation beginning at the end of 2026. As part of its ongoing evolution, the brand will refresh the packaging of its core range, showcasing the rugged natural beauty of Islay and the distinctive flavors that define each variant. The change will see Ardbeg's iconic black motif evolve, incorporating playful illustrations that encapsulate the stories behind each whisky.
A Bold New Design
Set to roll out in a phased approach, the redesign aims to enhance the visual appeal while making each whisky’s character and narrative instantly recognizable. The classic black of Ardbeg will remain, coupled with Celtic-inspired motifs and knots, but each product will now feature unique earth-tone accents, making the collection more accessible and enjoyable for consumers.
Illustrations reminiscent of woodblock prints by artist
Johnny Greenteeth will adorn the new packaging, bringing to life the landscapes and tales of Islay connected to each whisky. Moreover, fans will find
Shorty, Ardbeg's lovable mascot dog, make an appearance in these creative visuals.
In addition to aesthetic changes, informative elements will be included, such as tasting notes, flavor snapshots, and details about the barrels used. This new design allows consumers to delve deeper into the unique stories and flavors associated with each Ardbeg expression.
Notably, the
Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5-Year will continue with its characteristic 'naked bottle' style, which has remained unchanged since its launch in 2020.
Introducing Ardbeg Trudernish 15-Year
Amidst the new packaging, a remarkable addition to the Ardbeg lineup will debut—
Ardbeg Trudernish 15-Year—slated for release in spring 2027. Named after an ancient village southeast of the distillery, Trudernish is part of an area known for its enchanting legends. This region is home to the mythical
Trudernish Spring, rumored to never freeze, thus imbuing the whisky with its mystical authenticity.
Crafted over 15 years in a combination of bourbon barrels, charred new barrels, and Oloroso sherry casks, the Trudernish possesses the quintessential Ardbeg peatiness and smoky character enhanced by a creamy smoothness from the aging process. Already, this new variant has garnered acclaim, with a
Double Gold award at the
2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).

Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale golden hue.
Nose: Earthy peat, accompanied by gentle waves of mild wood smoke, entwined with rich vanilla cream, evoking memories of vanilla ice cream drizzled with fudge sauce. Floral notes blend harmoniously with hints of pine resin and heather honey. The refreshing touch of orchard fruits like green apple and pear alongside nuances of cracked black pepper and dried herbs adds complexity.
Palate: Full-bodied and creamy, Ardbeg’s signature bold peat seamlessly merges with smooth sweet vanilla. Classic flavors reminiscent of the forest earth transcend into deep treacle-like sweetness, bittersweet chocolate, and refreshing lime acidity with herbal mint notes. Additional elements of juicy apples, pears, and nutty nuances wrapped in milk chocolate emerge, all tied together by a silky texture.
Finish: Long and gentle, with smoldering peat, vanilla, and toasted nut flavors leading into a lingering smoky aftertaste.
