Shinagawa Ward and Mobimaru Partner for Disaster Preparedness Training
On November 2, 2025, Shinagawa Ward will host the "2023 Ohsaki Second District Comprehensive Disaster Drill" at Ohsaki Junior High School. This event, organized by the Ohsaki Second District Disaster Prevention Council, marks the first collaboration between the council and Mobimaru, a mobile sales platform operated by Synchron Foods.
Motivation Behind the Initiative
This partnership stems from an agreement established in June 2025, focusing on utilizing kitchen cars for providing meals during disasters. Shinagawa Ward continuously conducts disaster training sessions emphasizing community involvement through local associations and schools. The Ohsaki area expects around 600 participants, including residents, to engage in various hands-on exercises designed to enhance disaster preparedness awareness.
Training Activities for Community Engagement
The upcoming training will include diverse programs: participants will experience earthquake simulations using a shaking vehicle, smoke escape drills, first aid training, standpipe exercises, and fire extinguishing drills. The training aims to enhance disaster awareness across different community demographics, especially among families and younger generations.
Mobimaru’s Unique Offerings
Mobimaru will showcase a specialized disaster kitchen car featuring meals made with alpha rice—an emergency food product provided by Shinagawa Ward. The menu will consist of three items: roast beef bowl, diced steak bowl, and taco rice. Residents participating in the drill and completing surveys will receive these meals for free. This initiative is a first for Mobimaru, demonstrating a commitment to collaborating with municipalities and disaster-related events to innovate food offerings in disaster situations.
Menu Highlights
- - Roast Beef Bowl: Juicy slices of beef served over fluffy rice.
- - Diced Steak Bowl: Tender beef cubes drizzled with savory sauce, perfect for a nutritious meal.
- - Taco Rice: A fusion of taco flavors presented on warm rice, catering to varied tastes.

The council emphasizes that while annual drills are routine, this initiative marks the first instance of collaborating with kitchen cars. The hope is that sampling the rationed alpha rice will make disaster preparedness more relatable and inspire participation from those unaware of existing training programs, especially families.
