Special Screening Event of 'Ganbatte, Ganbaranai'
On July 7th, a special advance screening event for the original drama 'Ganbatte, Ganbaranai' was held at Ion Cinema Itabashi, Tokyo. This event featured lead actors Miyu Hirai and Kō Takano, as well as director Ryunosuke Uesaka, celebrating their new project ahead of the television premiere scheduled for August 7th.
The drama revolves around a share house in the mountains, where young people with their own unique struggles come together. It tackles themes of pain and healing as these characters learn to support each other while gradually rediscovering their authentic selves under the motto 'ganbatte, ganbaranai' (try hard, but don’t try too hard).
After the screening, the leads and director took to the stage to express their joy about the film’s debut and share insights into the project’s creation. Miyu, who plays the lead role of Hinata Taniguchi, reflected on her initial nerves, stating, "I was quite anxious at first, but by playing cards together with my co-stars around the kotatsu, we were able to bridge the emotional distance. The filming environment was incredibly warm thanks to everyone involved."
Kō Takano, who portrays Daigo Tada, recounted an amusing moment during the shoot, saying, "The nearest convenience store was quite far, but during breaks, we would go there together. I even got to see Shinya Arino live, who I usually watch on YouTube." Uesaka praised both actors, saying, "They were serious in their roles and dedicated to the project. We are very grateful for their earnestness and effort."
As the event drew to a close, Miyu shared a heartfelt message with the audience on this special evening of Tanabata, a traditional star festival in Japan, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
The original drama 'Ganbatte, Ganbaranai' will have its exclusive television debut on the Japanese Movie Channel on August 7th at 9 PM. Following the main show, viewers will also be able to watch a making-of feature titled 'Ganbatte, Ganbaranai: Filming Diary,' exclusive to the channel.

Kō Takano as Daigo Tada:
"I focused on understanding the life experiences of Daigo as he grapples with his own pride, particularly when he compares himself to others. I hope viewers remember this show for comfort during challenging times and learn to appreciate themselves, especially when they’ve been trying too hard."
