Airbnb and FIFA Team Up for Unforgettable Travel Experiences During Major Tournaments

On June 12, 2025, Airbnb and FIFA announced a significant partnership that spans three major global tournaments. This collaboration aims to provide football fans with unforgettable travel experiences while also delivering valuable economic support to host cities. Over the three-year partnership period, Airbnb will serve as the official partner for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, and as the official supporter for both the FIFA World Cup 2026™ in North America and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. Additionally, Airbnb will offer official accommodation options for fans during these landmark FIFA events, available worldwide on their platform.

Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, "The World Cup brings the world together, and so does Airbnb. We are proud to provide fans with once-in-a-lifetime experiences during the tournament while aiming to welcome numerous guests and generate meaningful economic impact for local communities during the FIFA World Cup 2026."

FIFA President Gianni Infantino also welcomed Airbnb as a partner, expressing anticipation for their crucial role in the upcoming tournaments that will leave a lasting impact on football.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is promised to be a transformative event, reshaping club football for generations, while the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be unprecedented, featuring 48 national teams competing across three host countries.

Unique Travel Experiences and Soccer Engagement
With this partnership, Airbnb aims to celebrate the passion for football through travel, culture, and connection. Guests can choose from a variety of affordable and high-quality accommodations and engage in unique Airbnb experiences led by local hosts, showcasing the traditions and hidden gems of the host cities. From immersive cultural activities to exclusive sessions with iconic players and experts, Airbnb is dedicated to creating cherished memories that extend beyond simply watching the matches.

Among the options already available on the Airbnb platform is a private training session with renowned American goalkeeper Tim Howard. Guests can also join Howard’s teammate, former U.S. international player Cobi Jones, to watch matches live or participate in exclusive analysis sessions before the games, gaining backstage insights. These experiences are open for booking and will occur during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, starting on June 14 in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. Additional experiences for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 are expected to be revealed soon.

Tim Howard remarked, "Soccer has a unique ability to bring people together in unforgettable ways. Partnering with Airbnb and offering private training sessions is very special, as it allows me to share my passion for football and connect with fans meaningfully. This experience goes beyond viewing from the stands; it’s about stepping onto the pitch and gaining insights into professional training from an entirely new perspective."

Economic Impact on Local Communities
As the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, an unprecedented number of fans are anticipated to travel to support their favorite teams. A Deloitte study predicts that over 380,000 Airbnb guests will travel, with more than 150,000 expected to come from the United States.

This partnership represents an unparalleled opportunity for local communities, with the economic impact of Airbnb accommodations during the FIFA World Cup 2026 expected to reach $3.6 billion across the host cities.

In total, Airbnb hosts across the 16 event cities could see earnings of up to $210 million, highlighting the immense economic opportunities presented by providing accommodations during such significant events.

Furthermore, Airbnb anticipates that in 2026, it will generate the equivalent of approximately 34,000 full-time jobs, contributing to the broader economic development in the area.

By directing tourism-related spending into local coffee shops, restaurants, and small businesses in regions where traditional tourism infrastructure may be lacking, Airbnb will promote widespread economic benefits. The investment in community support will provide long-lasting benefits even after the tournaments conclude.

Airbnb host Sébastien Long from Houston expressed pride in welcoming people from around the globe during this event. He hopes to showcase the local culture and flavors, ensuring that the economic benefits reach the entire Houston community.

Introducing the Airbnb 2026 Host City Impact Program
Airbnb will invest $5 million in the "Airbnb Host City Impact Program" for the FIFA World Cup 2026 host cities. This community support initiative aims to collaborate with each city to foster economic growth and enhance the overall event experience for both residents and visitors.
