Huawei Unveils Intelligent RAIL 2.0 to Accelerate Global Railway Intelligence Modernization
Huawei Unveils Intelligent RAIL 2.0
At the renowned InnoTrans 2026, the world's largest trade fair for rail transport, held from September 22 to 25, Huawei made a significant announcement by launching Intelligent RAIL 2.0. This next-generation solution is crafted to provide intelligent solutions across various scenarios aimed at modernizing the global railway sector.
The event was a gathering of key industry players, including the UIC (International Union of Railways) and UITP (International Association of Public Transport), alongside global clients and ecosystem partners. They convened to discuss the future of the railway industry and explore innovations that could enhance its operational capabilities.
Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, highlighted the pressing need for rail operators to integrate digital technologies to tackle traditional sector challenges. He noted that as society shifts towards an era of intelligence, stakeholders across the board are looking for innovative ways to embed intelligent and digital solutions into their core business processes.
A major development discussed at the conference was the migration from GSM-R to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), representing a foundational move towards a more robust digital infrastructure. Zuo emphasized that maintaining equipment will transition towards condition-based and predictive models, while the freight transport sector will evolve into a service-oriented logistics model incorporating multimodal transport services. For passenger services, the industry aims to deliver fluid travel experiences, and engineering construction increasingly adopts smart technologies to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
Intelligent RAIL 2.0 encompasses a comprehensive set of 20 solutions tailored to specific railway scenarios. Focusing on three vital areas—construction, passenger transport, and equipment maintenance—these solutions address ongoing challenges within the industry. Huawei collaborates closely with its partners to develop these solutions, leveraging its expertise in communications and digital platforms while allowing partners to specialize in industrial applications. This modular and customizable approach ensures that clients receive solutions that meet their unique operational demands.
To date, Huawei has served over 50 major rail clients globally, operating across more than 300 urban railway lines, covering an expansive network of over 180,000 kilometers of track. The company is not only a leading global provider of ICT products but also a trusted partner in the digital transformation journey as the industry embraces intelligent solutions.
