Obihiro Station South Exit Redevelopment Project Set to Open in Spring 2028

Obihiro Station South Exit Redevelopment Project

The highly anticipated Obihiro Station South Exit redevelopment project is set to revolutionize the central district of Obihiro with its grand opening scheduled for spring 2028. This groundbreaking initiative, spearheaded by Tōju Holdings, Hoo Corporation, and Escon, will encompass 25,000 square meters and feature a mix of high-rise condominiums, hotels, and vibrant commercial facilities.

Project Overview

Situated on the former site of the Nagasakiya Obihiro store, which will close its doors in March 2024, this project aims to create a multifunctional urban space that meets various community needs. Tōju Holdings has acquired the property and engages with local enterprises and government bodies to foster a collaborative approach in enhancing the area. Following the historic site’s demolition, community members will be invited to witness the transformation firsthand, highlighting transparency and public involvement.

The redevelopment is not merely a construction venture; it's part of a broader effort to revitalize Obihiro’s central area, which has faced challenges due to the ongoing closure of significant retail establishments nearby. The vision focuses on building a welcoming environment that provides residents and visitors with a variety of “places to belong,” underscoring the importance of local identity.
