SO-SO Appointed as Takatsuki City Tourism Ambassador! A New Era for Local Culture

SO-SO Appointed as Takatsuki City Tourism Ambassador

On July 14, 2025, renowned artist SO-SO of COCO Gallery, based in Shibuya, Tokyo, was officially appointed as the "Takatsuki City Tourism Ambassador" by the Takatsuki City Tourism Association. The ceremony took place at Takatsuki City Hall, where the representative director of the association, Mr. Shiraishi, handed over the appointment certificate. SO-SO further met with Takatsuki City Mayor Takeshi Hamada in a courtesy visit following the ceremony.

This appointment signifies SO-SO's desire to give back to his hometown of Takatsuki and contribute to its cultural enrichment. The association has plans to collaborate on a range of activities to enhance his role as an ambassador in the future.

A Fresh Take on Local Tradition

As a kickoff to his ambassadorial activities, SO-SO will participate in the Takatsuki Festival, a beloved event celebrated since 1970, by producing a remix of the traditional "Takatsuki Ondo" song with his unique beatboxing style. The remix, dubbed "Takatsuki Ondo SO-SO Remix," is set for a digital release on the festival's first day, August 2nd, Saturday, ensuring that the festivities are infused with a modern twist.

The Takatsuki City Tourism Association anticipates that this innovative approach will not only invigorate the festival but also foster a sense of local pride among younger generations. During the courtesy visit, Mayor Hamada expressed his support, stating he would be delighted if SO-SO could showcase the city’s charm through human beatboxing.

SO-SO: A Profile of Talent

SO-SO is not just any artist; he is a DJ, music producer, and champion human beatboxer. Known for his dance music tracks, including the popular "SO-SO Exercise," he creates music using solely beatboxing sounds. His electrifying performance at Japan’s largest music festival, GMO SONIC 2025, alongside ALAN SHIRAHAMA, showcased his exceptional stage presence. He is also gearing up for an appearance at the "SUMMER SONIC BANGKOK 2025" in August.

With a remarkable track record in the beatboxing community, SO-SO earned multiple titles, including Asian Champion and World Champion. His historic participation at the Grand Beatbox Battle 2019 marked him as the first Japanese to reach the TOP 4 and subsequently won world championships in the Tag Loop Station category in 2021 and the Crew category in 2023.

All of SO-SO's tracks feature his signature beatboxing and field-recorded sounds, crafting a distinctive auditory experience. By April 2025, he will release a 30-track digital album titled "SO-SO SPINS TOKYO," inspired by the Tokyo Yamanote Line.

Collaborating with the likes of Hey! Say! JUMP, which secured a number one spot on Billboard Japan, and multiple domestic companies, including JT and NTT DOCOMO Studio & Live, he has received high acclaim in various music projects.

Additionally, SO-SO is a member of FENNEL, one of Japan's top-tier professional eSports teams, highlighting his multifaceted approach to entertainment.
