BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Join Forces for Clean Energy in Nigeria

In an impactful initiative aimed at improving energy access, global clean energy leader BLUETTI has partnered with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to extend their 'Lighting An African Family (LAAF)' program to Nigeria. This collaboration not only aims to deliver sustainable energy solutions but also strives to empower communities in need.

An Expanding Mission

This recent action took place from September 7 to September 10, 2026, in Benue State, following a successful first partnership in Kenya that occurred in 2025. The LAAF program is designed to address the energy challenges faced by underserved populations across Africa, and this initiative in Nigeria is a continuation of that vital mission.

During the event, a two-day workshop focused on solar energy was hosted at the Rev. Fr. Orshio Adasu University in Makurdi. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of solar energy and its practical applications, ensuring hands-on learning to solidify their understanding. To assist in these educational efforts, BLUETTI generously donated 50 PB200 Solar Lighting and Storage Kits, equipping students with the tools to explore solar technology.

Targeting Energy-Deprived Communities

The collaboration extended past the university, reaching out to Yelwata, a community in Guma Local Government Area where electricity access is severely constrained. Here, BLUETTI made a significant contribution, donating 180 additional solar kits to households led by women or elderly individuals. This outreach effort positively impacted more than 1,000 residents, providing them with more reliable electricity for daily needs.

With the introduction of these clean energy solutions, the living conditions for families within these communities are expected to see substantial improvement. Access to safe and consistent electricity can enhance opportunities for education, foster communication, and contribute to community development.

A Commitment to Sustainability

The results of the LAAF program so far have been notable, with over 60,000 individuals benefiting from its initiatives across Africa. As part of their ongoing effort, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat anticipate that their joint actions will lead to an impressive reduction of approximately 337.5 tons in carbon emissions over the next five years. This reduction supports the creation of more resilient communities while aligning with broader sustainable development goals.
