Ferrovial Celebrates 23 Years of Leadership in Sustainability Rankings

Ferrovial Maintains Excellence in Sustainability

As of December 23, 2024, Ferrovial has proudly announced its continuous presence in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World for the 23rd consecutive year. This recognition emphasizes Ferrovial's exceptional track record in sustainability within the construction and engineering sectors, affirming its role as a leader among over 2,500 publicly traded companies.

The DJSI World is renowned for evaluating the sustainability performance of businesses globally, and it recognizes only the top 10% of companies in each industry for their responsible practices. Ferrovial has not only secured its place among these top contenders but has also achieved the number one ranking in construction and engineering in Europe and the second globally. This impressive feat highlights the company’s dedication to innovative initiatives that positively impact both the environment and local communities.

Ignacio Madridejos, CEO of Ferrovial, expressed great pride in the company’s achievements, stating, "Our consistent inclusion in DJSI World for more than two decades confirms our unwavering commitment to sustainability. The infrastructure we create—roads, airports, and energy facilities—provides significant value to the communities we serve, fostering socio-economic development and enhancing well-being."

Ferrovial’s efforts in sustainability are recognized beyond the DJSI. The company has received accolades from various leading sustainability indices, including CDP, ISS ESG, Sustainalytics, and GRESB. These recognitions underscore Ferrovial’s commitment to sustainable practices and its proactive approach towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The company's strategy revolves around three critical pillars: environment, community, and governance. By focusing on these areas, Ferrovial has established itself as a pioneer in the industry, becoming the first company to earn AENOR certification for aligning with the United Nations’ sustainability objectives.

Operating in over 15 countries and employing more than 24,000 individuals worldwide, Ferrovial is a dominant force in the infrastructure sector. The organization is triple-listed on Euronext Amsterdam, the Spanish Stock Exchanges, and Nasdaq, making it a pivotal player in Spain’s blue-chip IBEX 35 index. Since adopting the UN Global Compact principles in 2002, Ferrovial has strived to enhance its operational standards while promoting transparency and accountability in its business practices.

Moving forward, the company remains steadfast in its dedication to advancing its 2030 Sustainability Strategy. By building sustainable infrastructure that benefits communities while minimizing environmental impact, Ferrovial aspires to continue its legacy as a sustainability leader in the global arena.

With its long-standing commitment to sustainability and innovative practices, Ferrovial is paving the way for future generations, proving that profitability and environmental responsibility can indeed go hand in hand.
