Visit Detroit Highlights Its Success in 2025 and Future Aspirations at Annual Partner Meeting

On April 29, 2026, Visit Detroit organized a Partner Marketing Outlook event, featuring over 500 partners, business leaders, and guests at The Department at Hudson's Detroit. This event, formerly known as the Annual Meeting, marked a significant discussion on the region's past achievements and future prospects.

President and CEO Claude Molinari, who also chairs the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority (DRCFA), presented a comprehensive Business Update. One of the most exciting announcements was the addition of a new 600-room hotel in downtown Detroit, strategically located near the Detroit Riverfront in the block surrounding Cass, Fort, Congress, and Washington. This new hotel, to be developed by Congress Associates of the Sterling Group, will be connected to Huntington Place, enhancing the area’s capacity to host conventions and significant events.

Molinari expressed the importance of this new hotel project, stating, "This marks a milestone for hotel development in Detroit and positions Huntington Place to secure more industry-leading meetings and conventions."

Key Developments in Detroit's Future

Molinari also elaborated on several exciting initiatives for the next few years:

New Hotel Developments

In addition to the new hotel, the city is set to introduce over 1,600 new hotel rooms by 2027, with upcoming establishments like the JW Marriott Detroit Water Square, The Detroit EDITION, and NoMad Hotel. These additions will not only cater to hotel demand but significantly enhance the hospitality experience in Detroit.

Culinary Recognition

Recognition has come to Detroit's culinary scene as it was recently included in the MICHELIN Guide American Great Lakes edition. With inspectors visiting anonymously, the city is identified as a burgeoning culinary hotspot, alongside its ongoing James Beard nominations, which highlight the region's food scene.

Expanding Global Reach

Visit Detroit's partnership with Italy’s Juventus Football Club has evidently increased the awareness of Detroit on the global stage. This initiative has tripled the city’s recognition among the football club's extensive fanbase. Moreover, the organization is preparing to host IPW 2028, a renowned travel trade show expected to bring a wealth of international attention.

Upcoming Events

As Detroit gears up for the 2027 Men's Final Four, excitement grows over the potential five-day fan activations leading to the crowning of the national champion at Ford Field. Following the $213.6 million economic impact from the 2024 NFL Draft, the anticipation for this sporting event is high, projecting an even greater economic outcome for the region.

Community Gratitude

Harriet Carter, Senior Vice President of Services, Partnerships, and Events at Visit Detroit, expressed deep gratitude towards partners for their commitment and collaboration. She noted, "The progress we've made together reflects the strength of our relationships and a unified vision for our destination's future. We are proud of our accomplishments and more motivated by the opportunities that lie ahead."
