Get Ready for the World Food & Music Festival 2025
The excitement is building as the
World Food & Music Festival 2025, presented by
Veridian Credit Union, is set to take place from
August 22-24 at
Western Gateway Park, located in the heart of
Downtown Des Moines (DSM). This festival is not just an event; it's a celebration of global culture, food, music, and community, now recognized nationally as one of the leading cultural festivals in the country.
This year, attendees will be treated to a remarkable lineup featuring
56 food vendors representing
23 countries, including
13 new vendors eager to share their culinary delights. Particularly noteworthy is that six of the vendors hail from the
Greater Des Moines Partnership's Spark DSM Business Incubator, highlighting the festival's commitment to supporting local businesses. As guests explore the diverse offerings, they can look forward to clearly marked menus indicating gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, ensuring inclusivity for all dietary needs.
Vendors and Nonprofits
The festival will also showcase several merchants and nonprofits, adding to the festive atmosphere. Notable merchants include:
- - Alohana Creations
- - Ethnic Fusion
- - Iowahenna Facepainting
- - Inti Fair Trade
- - Josina Supplies LLC
- - Nectar of the Vine
In addition to the merchants, two nonprofit organizations will be featured:
- - Annie's Foundation
- - AFS Intercultural Programs USA
These organizations play a vital role in fostering community connections and promoting cultural exchange.
A Celebration of Diversity
Amelia Klatt, Director of Events for The Partnership, expresses enthusiasm about the festival's return, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring back the World Food & Music Festival — it’s a great opportunity for visitors to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of the world right here in
DSM. We encourage everyone to try something new.” This sentiment encapsulates the festival's goal: to bring people together to enjoy diverse culinary experiences while celebrating community spirit.
Shelly McGill, Regional Manager for Veridian, emphasized the festival’s role in acknowledging and celebrating cultural diversity. “The World Food & Music Festival has been celebrating global cultures, cuisine, and music found in our community for over 20 years. Des Moines is fortunate to have such a vibrant celebration that unites us all, and Veridian is proud to support it.”
