Aomori Prefecture Claims Karaoke Title Again!

In an impressive showcase of vocal talent, Aomori Prefecture has once again been crowned as the top karaoke region in Japan. This victory follows their success in the previous year, as they scored 83.776 points, making them the reigning ‘Utauma-ken No.1’ in the latest karaoke rankings announced by Daiichi Kosho Co.

The “Utauma-ken Ranking” assesses the singing capabilities of various prefectures through a meticulous evaluation of performance data collected from karaoke establishments equipped with DAM systems. This year, the ranking used a pool of 153 songs, evaluating performance results from November 25, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Each prefecture’s score was determined by averaging their total score divided by the number of performances.

Following Aomori's remarkable achievement, Hokkaido secured second place, climbing up from fifth last year, while Yamagata fell from second to third. This year's ranking revealed significant fluctuations in scores, with both Aomori and Okinawa remaining consistent at the top and bottom positions, respectively.

The survey also indicated that Aomori's top-performing cities greatly contributed to its success. Towada City led with a score of 85.194, followed by Hachinohe City at 84.958, and Misawa City at 84.598. These results highlight the vocal prowess concentrated in the southeastern region of the prefecture.

In a contrasting development, Tokyo saw a sharp decline, dropping from fourth to thirteenth place this year. Meanwhile, Nagasaki performed admirably, enhancing its rank to fourth from ninth last year, with Ehime and Saga also making remarkable leaps, landing in fifth and eighth place, respectively.

As part of the celebration of Aomori's victory, several karaoke establishments throughout the prefecture are hosting a special campaign where participants have the chance to win a total of 1 million yen. From February 24 to March 31, 2026, patrons can join the “Utauma-ken No.1” campaign to win one of 50 QUO card pay vouchers worth 20,000 yen each. To participate, karaoke enthusiasts must select songs from the January 2026 DAM monthly karaoke rankings TOP 50 and follow the guidelines to submit their entries via SmartDAM.

With ongoing efforts to promote karaoke, Daiichi Kosho Co. pledges to continue launching engaging research projects and initiatives aimed at encouraging wider participation in the karaoke experience across Japan.
