Experience Okinawa at the 17th Sunshine City "Okinawa Mensore Festa"
From May 22 to 31, 2026, the 17th Okinawa Mensore Festa will unfold at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, offering an immersive experience of Okinawa’s rich culture and traditions. This annual event, which started as a collaboration between Sunshine Aquarium and the Okinawa Onna Village, celebrates 20 years of the Coral Project.
A Celebration of Collaboration
A significant milestone for the event is the signing of a comprehensive partnership agreement with Onna Village on April 17, 2026. This agreement is designed to elevate collaborative efforts to new heights, encompassing tourism, arts, and culture. The festival will showcase various attractions under this partnership, creating an engaging platform for visitors to connect with the essence of Okinawa.
Unique Exhibits and Culinary Delights
The Okinawa product exhibition spans 55 booths, with 12 first-time participants, including 8 shops debuting outside of Okinawa. Enjoy rare delicacies that are hard to find elsewhere. From traditional Okinawa soba to the famous sata andagi (fried doughnuts) and the exquisite cuisine of Ishigaki Island, there is something for everyone.
In addition to food, guests can partake in live music performances by Okinawa-native artists at the Fountain Square as well as learn about the exhilarating dance and culture of Eisa at Ikesampo Park. This event encapsulates the variety of Okinawa's true charms, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the sunshine city.
A Family-Friendly Delight
This year, the festival introduces a new kids' space, where young visitors can play while parents relax and enjoy their meals at the spacious dining areas—about 400 seats across the event. Whether you are a solo visitor or a family, the festival is designed to provide a comfortable environment for everyone.
