2025 Tochigi Prefecture's Best Neighborhoods and Ideal Living Rankings Unveiled

Introducing the 2025 Tochigi Prefecture Living Rankings

Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has conducted one of the largest surveys on residential satisfaction to date, unveiling the "2025 Tochigi Prefecture Neighborhood Living Satisfaction Rankings" and "2025 Tochigi Prefecture Desired Neighborhood Rankings."

Best Living Satisfaction Rankings in Tochigi

For three consecutive years, Utsunomiya City has claimed the top spot in the "Living Satisfaction Rankings." It is followed by Mibu Town in Shimotsuga County and Shimoichi City, ranked second and third, respectively.

Key Highlights:

  • - Utsunomiya City Reigns Supreme: Utsunomiya is celebrated for its abundant commercial facilities and excellent transport links to Tokyo, making it a convenient place for daily life. Its healthcare, welfare, and childcare support also received high marks, contributing to its consistent first place.
  • - Rising Stars: Both Mibu Town and Kamikawara Town have shown marked improvement, rising to second and fourth places, respectively. These towns are recognized for their increasing populations, reflecting a growing appeal in Tochigi’s rural areas.

Note: The rankings are determined by a normalized scoring method where the average score is set at 50. Variants in the decimal points help differentiate between ranks when scores are equal.

The satisfaction rankings compile data from five years of participant feedback. If the number of responses from a municipality is below 50 in the specified timeframe, data from previous years can be included to meet the criteria.

Most Desirable Neighborhood Rankings in Tochigi

This year's top neighborhoods reflect consistent preferences:
  • - Again, Utsunomiya City Tops: The city's allure lands it as the most desired place to live for the third consecutive year, ahead of the 23 wards of Tokyo and Saitama City.
  • - Stable Rankings: Following Utsunomiya, the Tokyo 23 wards maintain their second place, and Saitama City climbed from fourth to third this year, indicating a shift in desirability. Yokohama City and Kamakura City also rank in the top five.

Positive Sentiment Toward Current Residences

A substantial 76.0% of participants expressed satisfaction with their current neighborhood, with 19.5% intending to continue residing in their present locale. Interestingly, 56.5% noted that they do not have a particular preferred neighborhood.

Note: The desired neighborhood rankings were based on feedback from Tochigi residents for the year 2025, encompassing opinions about various municipalities nationwide.
