Sir Jimmy Anderson Launches DP World's Grassroots Cricket Support at Lord's

On June 10, 2025, an exciting event unfolded at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground, as England cricket legend Sir Jimmy Anderson unveiled DP World's Beyond Boundaries Initiative. This initiative aims to enhance grassroots cricket access by providing essential equipment and support to young players across the United Kingdom.

DP World, a leading international logistics company, partnered with respected organizations like the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the MCC Foundation to deliver its mission of broadening access to the sport.

Key Highlights of the Initiative

Rashid Abdulla, the CEO and Managing Director of DP World for Europe, proudly shared, "Bringing the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Europe for the first time is a proud milestone for DP World." He emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging its supply chain capabilities to support grassroots cricket facilities across the region.

As part of this initiative, 250 cricket kits were delivered in a repurposed shipping container, coinciding with the ICC World Test Championship Final held this week. The kits, each containing a bat, protective gear, gloves, and a helmet, are set to be distributed to schools throughout Great Britain in collaboration with the MCC Foundation.

Sir Jimmy Anderson expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It’s fantastic to see support from an ICC partner extend to grassroots play globally and now arrive in the UK just before this week’s final." He highlighted the importance of opportunity and access in fostering the growth of cricket, making the provision of these kits a significant moment for young athletes.

Continuing the Support

The Beyond Boundaries Initiative will continue its efforts during the upcoming Test match between South Africa and Australia and beyond, supporting key cricket tournaments and impacting lives across the globe. Notably, since its inception, this initiative has already dispatched 12 repurposed shipping containers, providing 3,000 cricket kits, and launched programs in eight countries across four continents, enabling over 15,000 youngsters to engage in the sport.

Anurag Dahiya, the ICC's commercial director, emphasized that the sincerity of DP World's commitment profoundly influences grassroots cricket, which has positively impacted locations such as New York and Namibia, and now aims to substantively contribute to the heart of cricket’s tradition.

Meanwhile, Angus Berry, Operations Director of the MCC Foundation, reiterated the collaborative commitment to youth cricket, stating, "We are responsible for grassroots cricket in the country and beyond. This partnership with DP World, arriving at Lord's before the ICC World Test Championship Final, underscores our shared dedication to accessibility and opportunities for all young cricketers."

Conclusion

The launch of the Beyond Boundaries Initiative signifies a foundational step towards nurturing cricket at the grassroots level in the UK. With influential figures like Sir Jimmy Anderson leading the charge, and DP World's strong logistical capabilities facilitating the distribution of essential gear, the future of cricket in schools looks promising. This initiative not only highlights the commitment of various organizations to support young athletes but also reinforces the spirit of collaboration that is vital for the growth and sustainability of sports.
