Eviva Partners Launches New Think Tank to Address Vaccine Misinformation

Eviva Partners, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing public understanding of medical science, has recently launched a new initiative called Protecting Our Health (POH). This think tank aims to assemble international experts in communications, public health, and misinformation to confront the rising tide of pseudoscience that poses risks to public health and vaccine acceptance.

Bridging the Gap Between Science and Public Perception

In a world where medical research yields a multitude of evidence-based interventions, the challenge lies in their acceptance and implementation by the broader public. Alex Morozov, the CEO and founder of Eviva Partners—who is also a physician-scientist, author, and former pharmaceutical manager—remarked, "Our mission is to empower individuals to make evidence-based decisions about their health. As misinformation proliferates, the role of POH becomes increasingly vital. We aim to tackle assaults on science and public health, reaching out to communities before misleading tactics take hold."

The foundation of POH rests on three core principles:
1. Re-engaging the Public with Science: POH aspires to equip individuals with the tools needed to distinguish solid medical evidence from pseudoscience.
2. Inclusivity: The initiative seeks to understand the diverse needs of various communities and strengthen them through factual data and two-way communication.
3. No Industry Funding Ever: Currently, Eviva is self-funding and building a coalition of philanthropists to support its endeavors without reliance on corporate funding.

The Recent Opinion Piece Raising Concerns

On July 30, MSNBC published an opinion article authored by Morozov, Dr. Helen Petousis-Harris—an eminent vaccine expert—and Eviva board member, Professor Stephan Lewandowsky. The piece addresses the strategic assault that high-profile figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have mounted against aluminum-containing vaccines.

As stated in the article, despite allegations against aluminum, contemporary scientific inquiry has yet to substantiate any links between aluminum in vaccines and chronic illnesses, including autism. A significant recent study involving over 1.2 million children conducted by Danish researchers found no correlation between aluminum in vaccines and 50 chronic diseases.

"If vaccine opponents succeed in undermining the credibility of aluminum-containing vaccines despite such research findings, the consequences could be dire," the article warns. It highlights that vaccine-preventable diseases—such as diphtheria, meningitis, hepatitis, and certain cancers—could return in waves, resulting in considerable morbidity and mortality, while autism rates will remain constants as they have over the decades.

More than a Campaign: A Call to Action

Protecting Our Health is not merely a campaign; it represents a clarion call for action. By merging evidence with narrative and engaging communities, Eviva and POH are committed to repairing the damage caused by misinformation while charting a future that is founded on evidence, accountability, and health for all.
