MASUNAGA1905 Meets ARTISTS: Collaborating with Kenta Cobayashi

In celebration of its 120th anniversary, MASUNAGA1905 has launched its second collaboration project, titled MASUNAGA1905 meets ARTISTS vol.2 Kenta Cobayashi. This initiative showcases the crossover between high-quality eyewear craftsmanship and contemporary artistry, aiming to create immersive experiences for customers at its flagship locations.

About the Project

Starting on April 17, 2026 at the newly opening MASUNAGA1905 Yaesu Store, this collaboration features Kenta Cobayashi, a contemporary artist known for his interdisciplinary approach embracing photography, video, and digital media. The project seeks to transform the customer experience by integrating art into the daily lives of eyewear users.

Upon entering the Yaesu Store, visitors will be greeted by an installation at the entrance created by Cobayashi, setting the tone for a unique visual experience. Inside the store, additional artworks will be displayed, allowing customers to engage with art in an everyday environment. Furthermore, two exclusive types of eyeglass sleeves, crafted specifically for this collaboration, will be available in all MASUNAGA1905 direct stores starting from April 17.

Kenta Cobayashi: The Artist Behind the Collaboration

Born in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 1992, Kenta Cobayashi graduated from Tokyo Zokei University with a focus in painting. Since then, he has participated in numerous exhibitions, both in Japan and internationally. His distinct style challenges the preconceptions of ‘seeing’ by deconstructing and reconstructing meaningful landscapes through art. His significant shows include #copycat at WAITINGROOM (Tokyo, 2025) and THE PAST EXISTS at Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery (Tokyo, 2022). Cobayashi’s collaboration with esteemed brands like Dunhill and Louis Vuitton highlights his artistic versatility and vision.

New Stores Opening

The MASUNAGA1905 Yaesu Store is not the only addition to the brand's expansion. Just a week later, on April 25, 2026, another flagship store will open in the Shinsaibashi District, Osaka. The store promises to be a landmark, designed under the theme of “heritage, technique, and quality.” With original lighting inspired by gifts presented to the Showa Emperor, the store will offer a luxurious and immersive environment reflecting MASUNAGA's commitment to elegance and quality.
