Richard Delcid Crowned the World's Fastest Pizza Maker
On May 28, 2026, Domino's Pizza Inc. proudly announced Richard Delcid as the
2026 World's Fastest Pizza Maker during a spectacular competition held at the Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas. Richard, who serves as the general manager at a Domino's in Manassas, Virginia, achieved this prestigious title by preparing three large pizzas in an astonishing time of
31.22 seconds!
Richard's impressive speed and skill earned him not just a trophy but also $5,000 in cash and a championship belt, all presented to him by Domino's CEO, Russell Weiner.
The Road to Victory
In his victory speech, Delcid expressed immense gratitude, stating, "Winning this title means the world to me. This competition is not solely about speed; it emphasizes delivering quality under pressure, just like we do in our restaurants every day. This moment reflects years of hard work and practice, making me incredibly proud of my achievement. I especially want to thank my instructor and fellow competitor, Joe Burr, who assisted me every step of the way; without him, I wouldn't have made it here."
The competition features finalists from Domino's worldwide, showcasing their pizza-making mastery in a thrilling display. Contestants must prepare three large pizzas: one pepperoni, one mushroom, and one cheese. They are required to hand-stretch the dough, add sauce, and distribute toppings with remarkable speed. However, speed alone does not guarantee victory; two highly qualified judges evaluate competitors based on three essential criteria: dough and sauce quality, portioning, and ingredient distribution.
Frank Garrido, Executive Vice President of Restaurants at Domino's, emphasized the competition's significance, saying, “The
World's Fastest Pizza Maker competition celebrates the incredible talent and motivation of our
Dominoids, who make the impossible seem easy. The speed and accuracy exhibited are extraordinary and reflect the high standards we set every day. Our franchisees employ some of the world's best pizza makers, and we couldn't be prouder to name Richard our champion for 2026.”
A Journey of Dedication
Richard Delcid's journey with Domino's began in 2012 when he joined as a part-time advertising delivery person and customer service representative. He ascended to the role of general manager by 2015, thanks to his unwavering dedication and hard work. Currently, he works for franchise owner John Barber and his operating partner Robert Donner, who manage 62 Domino's restaurants across Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. This triumph marks Delcid's first win in the competition, although he has participated three times and has previously been a finalist.
