Chunghwa Telecom's Strong Q2 2026 Performance

Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. has shared its unaudited consolidated operating results for the second quarter of 2026, reporting a remarkable growth trajectory, particularly in comparison to the same period last year. The company, prominently listed on TAIEX under the code 2412 and NYSE as CHT, demonstrated financial resilience in a challenging economic landscape.

Key Financial Highlights

During Q2 2026, Chunghwa Telecom experienced robust growth in total revenue, which surged by 8.2%, reaching NT$61.36 billion. This significant increase can be attributed to commendable performances across various business divisions:
  • - Consumer Business Group: Revenue rose by 4.8% to NT$35.73 billion, bolstered by consistent demand for core telecommunications services and strong sales of popular devices like the iPhone.
  • - Enterprise Business Group: Showing a healthy increase of 3.7%, this segment reported NT$19.68 billion in revenue, mainly from a surge in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) services catering to enterprise needs.
  • - International Business Group: Remarkably, this division saw a whopping 78.9% increase in revenue, amounting to NT$3.93 billion, largely due to successful large-scale ICT project deliveries in the United States and Southeast Asia.

Operating costs and expenses also saw a rise, increasing by 8.9% to NT$48.10 billion, a factor influenced by heightened costs associated with ICT project revenues and sales expansions.

Profitability Metrics

Operating income for the quarter was reported at NT$13.26 billion, reflecting a 5.7% increase year-over-year. Despite the increase in operating costs, the operating margin remained relatively stable at 21.51%, slightly down from 22.11% in Q2 2025. Similarly, net income attributable to the parent company increased by 4.7% to NT$10.64 billion, with basic earnings per share (EPS) recorded at NT$1.38.

Cash Flow and EBITDA

The company's operational cash flow also showcased an upward trend, increasing by 8.4% to NT$31.74 billion, while total cash and cash equivalents reached NT$42.03 billion as of June 30, 2026, marking a 20% rise from the previous year. EBITDA for the quarter increased by 4.1%, reaching NT$23.52 billion, although the EBITDA margin fell to 38.32% compared to 39.80% in the same quarter last year.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead, Chunghwa Telecom remains committed to expanding its presence within the ICT sector, evidenced by the 32% year-over-year growth in ICT revenue, largely attributed to demand for big data, cybersecurity, and cloud computing services. The unfolding landscape indicates a robust pipeline for projects, aiming to leverage AI and connectivity strategies to solidify its market position further.

Mr. Chih-Cheng Chien, Chairman and CEO of Chunghwa Telecom, expressed confidence in the company’s growth strategy and commitment to achieving its full-year targets, citing the solid performance as a testament to the execution discipline and the resilience of their operational strategies. Moreover, the launch of new AI-driven initiatives and collaborations with the Taiwan Stock Exchange hint at exciting developments on the horizon.
