Bandora Wins Pitching Contest at CTA's CEO Summit, Set for CES 2026
Bandora's Remarkable Win at the CTA CEO Summit
In a remarkable display of innovation, Portuguese startup Bandora took home the top prize in the pitching contest held during the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) CEO Summit, which took place in Lisbon. Bandora, a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, uses machine learning techniques to enhance energy efficiency in buildings, aiming for a sustainable future amidst growing energy concerns.
Founded in 2017, Bandora has made it its mission to create sustainable and self-sufficient buildings that contribute to occupant comfort. The company's innovative technology seamlessly integrates with existing IoT systems, continuously optimizing energy management—a critical step in reducing carbon footprints. By the end of 2023, Bandora is projected to have optimized over 16,500 square meters of building space, leading to a substantial reduction of 215 tons of CO₂ emissions.
Gary Shapiro, the CEO of CTA, emphasized the vital role of technology in addressing significant global challenges, stating, "The technological innovation can solve major world problems and improve millions of lives, and these startups are shaping the future." His sentiments were echoed throughout the summit, highlighting the importance of emerging technologies in today’s world.
During the competition, five finalists, representing a spectrum of industries including health, energy, artificial intelligence, and entertainment, presented their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. The panel included influential figures such as Rita Branco from 3xP Global Investments, Cintia Mano of COREangels, Tomás Penaguião from Bynd Venture Capital, and João Pereira from Digital Portugal Ventures.
The stakes were high as finalists had to impress the jury with their innovative concepts and growth potential. Bandora's strong showing not only secured their place as the competition winner but also granted them a free exhibition space in Eureka Park at the upcoming CES 2026, the largest tech event in the world, which is set to take place in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9, 2026.
Marcia Pereira, the founder and CEO of Bandora, expressed her gratitude, stating, "Winning the CEO Summit contest in front of such an inspiring group of innovators and investors is an honor. Showcasing in Eureka Park at CES 2026 is an amazing opportunity for us to share our vision and connect with investors to expand globally."
Eureka Park is renowned as a premier destination for startups, featuring around 1,400 exhibitors from diverse corners of the globe. Each year, startups unveil their groundbreaking products and solutions, and CES remains the ultimate platform for networking and collaboration.
The CTA's commitment to fostering innovation in Europe is exemplified through this contest. Following the CEO Summit, the excitement will continue at CES Unveiled Europe in Amsterdam, scheduled for October 28, 2025. This event will further spotlight emerging technologies and the innovative minds behind them.
