While entry into the inner shrine is not permitted after hours, the view from the entrance gate is quite regal, revealing a serene and solemn backdrop. Food Trucks in the Outer Garden


From March 13 to April 8, a selection of food trucks will be stationed in the Gaiin Ikoi no Niwa (Outer Garden), providing delicious snacks to enjoy while soaking up the cherry blossoms. The food trucks will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM every day, offering a perfect pause to enjoy the exquisite scenery.

Traditional Performing Arts


On March 29, traditional Japanese performing arts will be showcased at the Noh Theatre with a free auspicious performance by the Rakugo Association, featuring Rakugo storytelling and Taka-kyoku (traditional rhythmic entertainment). This event is set to start at noon, giving attendees a chance to enjoy the rich cultural heritage.

Female Wrestling Ceremony


Remarkably, innovative events such as the Yamato Jinjyuu Women’s Wrestling Festival will take place on March 29, featuring exciting matches in a special ring set up in the shrine's sumo arena. Doors open at 11:15 AM, and matches commence at noon. Admission for this thrilling event requires a ticket.

Nocturnal Noh Performances


On April 6 and 7, the shrine’s Noh theatre will hold a unique Night Cherry Blossom Noh Performance, featuring celebrated performers showcasing the delicate art under the cherry blossoms. Starting at 6:45 PM, this event provides a delightful fusion of culture and nature in a breathtaking setting.

Grand Sumo Ceremony


Later in the month, the shrine will host a Grand Sumo Ceremony on April 13, where ranked wrestlers from the Japan Sumo Association will perform. This event includes the ceremonial Dohyo-iri processions, celebrating the safety and success of the sumo matches, as well as religious prayers for the nation and agriculture’s prosperity. Admission is free, but attendees are advised to arrive early.

Limited Edition Sacred Items


While visiting Yasukuni during this cherry blossom season, don’t forget to check out the limited-edition sacred items available for purchase. The Hanami Mamori (flower guardian) charms will be distributed starting from March 20, priced at 1,500 yen. Furthermore, special commemorative items such as intricate paper cuttings and embroidered seals, reflecting themes from the grand sumo and memorializing fallen horses from the wars, will be available.
