NOK's Commitment to the Community Through Sports
NOK Corporation, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, and led by CEO Masao Tsuruno, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the "Fukushima City Half Marathon 2026," scheduled for May 17. This marks NOK’s second consecutive year of supporting this community event.
Showcasing Community Spirit
On race day, 10 employees from the NOK Group will participate, while many others will volunteer at the hydration stations to cheer on the runners. Additionally, NOK will distribute its original novelty item, the "KKOOR" hair tie, to the first 900 attendees at the corporate booth, ensuring a lively atmosphere.
The "Fukushima City Half Marathon 2026" will be the fourth edition of this event, featuring a scenic 21.0975 km route that takes participants through the bustling streets and beautiful natural landscapes of Fukushima City. This year, the race sees the introduction of a new 3 km course, attracting an expected record participation of 5,742 runners.
NOK considers Fukushima Prefecture a vital area, with multiple production facilities located within the region. By participating in the marathon and supporting its operations, NOK aims to enhance the event's success in collaboration with local residents.
NOK's Support Initiatives
NOK's support for the marathon includes:
- - Hydration Station Operations: Approximately 27 employees from NOK will play a pivotal role in managing the hydration station located around the 10 km mark at the Fukushima Toyota Crown Arena.
- - Novelty Item Distribution at Corporate Booth: At the FINISH area within the hospitality park at Seiden Company WINDY Stadium, NOK will hand out the "KKOOR" hair tie in colors inspired by the marathon logo – pink, light blue, or white – to the first 900 individuals.
The KKOOR hair tie, set to hit the market in February 2024, is NOK's first B2C product. It features a unique design that securely holds hair while being easy to remove, making it suitable for sports due to its resistance to sweat and water.
