Linglong Tire Unveils Innovative Sustainable Tire at Global Summit

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) recently hosted its Annual Meeting in Montreux, Switzerland, from April 27 to 28, 2026. This prestigious event brought together nearly 600 leaders from various organizations worldwide to discuss pressing topics such as emissions reduction and the transition to a circular economy.

Among the notable participants was Zhou Lingkun, President of Linglong Tire, who contributed to a session focused on "Sustainable Business Practices in China." During his presentation, Zhou emphasized that with the global shift towards a "dual carbon" goal, sustainable development has become a fundamental responsibility for businesses. To align with these objectives, Linglong Tire has embedded ecological and low-carbon principles into its core strategy, aiming to build a green ecosystem throughout the entire industrial chain.

In a significant move, Linglong Tire was awarded its official membership certificate from WBCSD, becoming the first tire manufacturer in mainland China to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR). This membership reflects the company's commitment to support certified FSC natural rubber projects, which are crucial for the livelihood of rubber farmers, forest preservation, and the protection of workers' rights, including those of indigenous peoples and local communities. Furthermore, Linglong is pioneering recycling initiatives by promoting the use of liquid rubber and pyrolysis black to effectively utilize used tires, thus ensuring a closed resource cycle.

One of the highlights of the conference was Linglong's introduction of a newly developed tire composed of 85% sustainable materials. This innovative product incorporates over 60% renewable bio-based materials and approximately 25% recycled materials, marking a significant advancement in the Chinese tire industry and positioning Linglong as a global leader. The tire uses cutting-edge materials such as rice husk ash silica and bio-based rubber, replacing traditional petroleum-derived ingredients, which drastically reduces the carbon footprint of the product from its source.

Remarkably, the tire maintains exceptional performance standards, achieving an 'A' rating on the EU tire label in critical areas, including rolling resistance and wet braking performance. Zhou emphasized that this tire utilizing 85% sustainable materials is merely a stepping stone for Linglong, with the long-term aspiration of producing a tire made from 100% sustainable materials by 2040.

The recognition from WBCSD signifies international acknowledgment of Linglong Tire’s sustainability efforts, and the company plans to actively engage in global discussions to foster a greener future for mobility. This initiative not only showcases Linglong's innovative approach to tire manufacturing but also highlights its commitment to sustainability and resource conservation in the automotive industry.
