A Taste of Nashville Comes to Tokyo

Main Chick Hot Chicken, based in Los Angeles and helmed by CEO Eric Dela Cruz, is launching its first-ever pop-up in Tokyo. From September 2 to September 30, 2025, food enthusiasts will have the chance to savor this delicious offering at the bustling Nakameguro area beneath the train tracks.

Originally founded in 2019 in West Los Angeles, Main Chick has quickly become a favorite among Southern cuisine lovers, specializing in Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches. With 11 locations currently operating in Southern California and four more slated to open by the end of 2025, the brand is ready to expand internationally with its Tokyo popup being the first venture outside the United States.

Nashville hot chicken, a dish rooted in Southern culinary traditions, features a crispy, spicy outer layer seasoned with cayenne pepper and a moist, juicy chicken interior. The excitement surrounding this trend in Japan stems from the nation’s high-quality ingredients and already established love for fried chicken and karaage, making it an ideal environment for this distinct flavor.

The Main Chick pop-up will feature a menu highlighting its most popular items, including the Main Chick sandwich, chicken tenders, fries, pickles, and the signature Main Chick sauce. Guests can customize their spice levels with options ranging from mild to spicy. While the U.S. version includes five heat levels, the Tokyo location offers three levels to suit local preferences.

To complement the crispy chicken, the sandwiches are served on Hawaiian sweet buns crafted by the renowned TOLO PAN TOKYO, located in Ikebukuro. This combination of the mildly sweet bun and the spicy chicken creates a perfect harmony, enhanced by the tangy taste of homemade coleslaw and pickles. The sandwich's delightful flavors are sure to captivate all palates.
