CATL Unveils Six Key Innovations to Revolutionize Energy Mobility

CATL Unveils Six Key Innovations in Energy Mobility

On April 23, 2026, CATL hosted its Super Technology Day in Beijing, presenting an impressive lineup of innovations designed to reshape the energy mobility landscape. The company introduced several next-generation battery technologies, each tailored to meet the growing demands of various energy mobility applications.

Innovations Introduced

CATL's showcase included the Third Generation Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery, the Third Generation Qilin Battery, the Qilin Condensed Battery, the Second Generation Freevoy Hybrid Battery, the Naxtra Sodium-Ion Battery, and an integrated energy solutions platform featuring supercharging and battery-swapping.

Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery

The Shenxing battery stands out with its capability to charge at an astounding rate. It can charge from 10% to 35% in only 1 minute, and from 10% to 80% in just 3 minutes and 44 seconds. This was achieved by addressing heat generation and dissipation through innovative design changes that ensure longevity, with performance retention above 90% even after 1,000 full charge cycles.

Qilin Battery

Next, the Third Generation Qilin Battery was noted for its efficiency and lightweight structure, which enhances the range of high-end electric vehicles to up to 1,000 km. This battery is built to provide a quick charge at a rate of 10C, significantly improving the driving experience while decreasing vehicle weight.

Qilin Condensed Battery

Next up was the Qilin Condensed Battery, which applies aeronautical technology, achieving a remarkable cell energy density of 350 Wh/kg. This innovation allows for longer ranges, enabling sedans to travel up to 1,500 km, a significant milestone in the electric vehicle market.

Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery

CATL also introduced the Second Generation Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, designed to deliver a fully electric range of up to 600 km. This hybrid technology combines materials to enhance performance without increasing weight, appealing to various consumer needs from family usage to high-end applications.

Naxtra Sodium-Ion Battery

Aiming for mass production by the end of 2026, the Naxtra Sodium-Ion Battery symbolizes CATL's significant advancements from laboratory discoveries to large-scale manufacturing, designed to overcome previous engineering challenges, making it a pivotal innovation for sustainable energy storage.

Integrated Battery Swapping and Supercharging Network

In terms of infrastructure, CATL unveiled an integrated supercharging and battery-swapping network, formatted to optimize energy replenishment with a user-friendly experience. This holistic network design enables stations to serve dual purposes for quick recharge and power exchange, focusing on efficiency and sustainability.

Future Roadmap

According to Robin Zeng, CATL CEO, the company is committed to advancing battery technology and infrastructure in a disciplined, scientifically driven manner. This approach is essential not just for speed and scale but also for the credibility and validation of the innovations within the global marketplace.

In summary, CATL’s focus on diverse chemical systems in battery technology aims to facilitate a holistic evolution in energy mobility, promoting efficient, sustainable solutions that meet the demands of a modern world increasingly focused on green technologies. As CATL continues to innovate and expand its product line, it unequivocally positions itself as a key player in the future of energy mobility.
